Reolink Year in Review 2023
How ColorX Technology Turn Night into Day
Reolink App v4.43 Released
I'm finding the video performance on the Mac M1 client for the RLC-823A is atrocious - I am running the latest version 8.8.5. I've also run an RLC-423WC which I do so on Clear mode and it's very smooth on the Mac client. When the 823A is moved, the lag is so bad that there is a 3 second delay between PTZ'ing the camera and the video reflecting that. The video is choppy and not usable. What's laughable is that my Windows based Surface Go 3 which is significantly weaker than my Mac M1 can pan the video smoothly without a problem in clear mode. For the Mac, I've noticed the CPU usage is extremely high and doesn't look like it's utilising the GPU much. I've also noticed the binaries are not M1 optimised which will also have a performance hit. It looks like the Mac app is unoptimised and abandoned whilst Reolink focus on the Windows version?Has anyone else noticed these issues with the Mac client?
Hello,Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I neglected to mention that I have upgraded to the latest firmware for this camera (Version 476_16111708). I have only had the device a few days, but I have had this issue from the day it was installed. To control the camera I have used both the web interface built in to the camera and also the Reolink client for both Mac and iOS, and in all cases the same issue is occuring.
Hi,I am having serious trouble with the focus performance of this camera. I am not sure if it's hardware or software at fault here. Basically if I zoom in, the camera hunts for focus (taking a long time to do so) and most of the time it just gives up with the picture remaining out of focus, which leaves me having to manually adjust the focus, which I may add is almost impossible to get right. Now and again, it'll get focus but this is rare. This also sometimes occurs when zooming out to wide angle but it seems to happen more frequently when zooming in.This issue is incredibly frustrating as it effectively makes the camera useless for zooming in. By the time I've actually gone to zoom in on a subject, it has disappeared, meanwhile the image remains blurred while the camera hopelessly tries to focus, eventually just giving up.The lighting conditions whilst testing this have been excellent, so this certainly wouldn't have been the issue for the focus troubles. Is this just a case of very bad software design? I have never seen a zoom lens with such slow focus characteristics! It's almost like auto focus was added as an afterthought....
