Restriction for number of files is not determined by the video duration or bitrate of recording. It is a fixed 3000 files value, does not matter how long a recording is or what was the bitrate of the recording.
Reolink subordinate everything for battery life for Argus. Even with reolink client you cannot download a single 64MB footage without sitting next to the computer waiting for the 7 sec counting back to pop up suddenly and if you miss hitting No the camera will disconnect and the footage download will be stopped in the middle and you can try again hopefully in the next round you did not miss the pop up. And with this battery saving feature you will lost more battery power as you restart the download 5-6 times. There should be an option to turn off all the battery saving functions in their battery powered cameras. Let the user decide how to use the camera.
It can be leaves growed close to the camera. And wind blowing leaves trigger the camera frequently. Try to clean up the surrounding of the camera.
I am not located at those countries. So for the rest of the World no firmware update
What is the firmware version for Google Home support for Argus 2? I always stuck with the firmware version at purchase time. I never receive firmware updates automatically even manual upgrade does not work. For argus 2 I have 18122101 december 21st 2018 firmware and 19011201 january 12th 2019.
I agree it would be great to elminate the limitation of preserving battery life if we put the wireless Argus battery powered cameras to constant USB power. For example allow download all the footage through reolink client without the timeout warnings and disconnections, use FTP to receive still pictures instead of email. Also it would be nice to let the user set a time interval for the argus camera to take pictures without PIR triggers.
For Argus 2 my experience is that you can get the farthest motion detection if you align your camera to look straight forward. If you set it to look down a little bit you will make it detect to a shorter distance. Also if you tilt it a little bit to right or left as it looks straight forward it also can help. The maximum I can get in this way is 9m this is still poor performance in some conditions. For Argus Eco the motion sensor is much better but its video quality is not as good as Argus 2 it has not get starlight night vision and it seems it compress the video much better loosing quality. Argus 2 with Argus Eco's PIR sensor would be a better product. Maybe Argus 3 will be this product Or if reolink can solve if one argus pir sensor triggers the other one or a separate motion sensor which you can put whenever you want would do the trick.
There is also a limitation for a maximum of 3000 files on the SD card this means 1500 footages as it records each footage in lower and high quality in the same time. So for example if you set 30 sec post recording on Argus 2 or Argus Eco and you put the camera on a place where it is frequently triggered watching to a street it will start deleting footage after 4 or 5 days. If you go on holiday you will lost footage after 4 days. You can preserve still pictures from emails which are over saturated as it catches the first frame when the camera did not have time to accomodate the light conditions. If you want backup your footage you have to climb up on a ladder grab out SD card (pretty hard as it is in so deep you cannot get it out with your finger nail) copy it to computer and put it back. You don't have any feedback from the app when it will reach 3000 files you can just guess if you are approaching to 16GB it is time to back up.Even if you put in a 32GB or 64GB card it will never fill it you will not be able record more than 16GB on them as 3000 files took up aproximately maximum of 16GB storage. There is no support to delete individual files from app or from reolink client to free up space for important footage. You cannot even download all the footage through wifi as the client signs out frequently. So there are a lot of limitations for Argus products in this scenario. Reolink eco has the same 3000 files limitation.
