Recording Prior Moments

In my previous very old, very different, hardwired, equivalent-cost, consumer-grade surveillance system, I could review video recordings that included a few seconds prior to each motion-detected event. It was breathtaking in usefulness, showing how events started, not merely what happened after motion trigger.

I have some idea what this entails, but is it possible from Reolink? In particular, is it possible with software update for my Argus PT 2k that has 128GB microSD card?

@ken For the PoE can Wifi wired camera have the pre-record function. You can find the pre-motion record setting on the Record setting.

For the battery camera, there is no pre-motion record if the camera is in standby mode. There is not enough time to activate the camera before the motion detection. If the battery camera is in active mode and detects the motions, it can support a pre-motion record.

I actually have the Pre-Motion Record feature turned on in my Settings, but mine is the solar-powered Argus PT. So maybe no effect. And so, being non PoE, non hardwired, and maybe even "non surveillance" type, is there no hope for software improvement to get Pre-Motion Record to work?

By "non surveillance" I mean I understand the recommendation that the Argus PT is not meant for continuous monitoring. You're saying it would have to be kept in active mode continuously to support Pre-Motion Record?

@ken The battery cameras use the PIR to detect the motion. Once it detects the motion, the camera will be activated and begin to record immediately. Before detecting the motion, the camera is in standby mode. So the pre-motion recording can't be recorded. If it is in active mode, it is possible to realize the pre-motion recording. I will also feedback on your request to the product team to see if there are any possibilities in the future. Thank you for the suggestion.
