Hi. I am in need of some help.

I have a Reolink 5MP camera RLC-410S I want recording on to my new PC. I want to retire the older PC. I'm not using any NVRs to record on. I downloaded a new version 8.12.1 and upon launch, it asked for DirectX. Since there is no way for me to roll back and download official older versions of the app, anywhere on the website, I was forced to use a bata version 8.12.0 from a Reddit post.

Here's the problem. The camera displays the stream just fine on the older PC. But when I unplug the LAN cable from the older PC and plug it into the new PC and try and view the stream on the app, it shows an error message; "Connection Failed". This is after I enter the camera's serial in the UID filed. Same thing happens when I enter the IP address in the "IP/Domain" filed. Nothing. I click scan LAN and nothing shows.

      Version 8.12.0
      Windows 10 PC

      Any ideas?

      Much appreciated!

I was going to delete this topic as I have found a solution. And that was to downgrade to app version 8.2.0.0. Now I'm am able to view the stream and record. This installation file was lingering around in the download folder of my older PC for all of two years.

So I'll leave this up in case someone comes across a similar issue as I have, they'll know RLC-410(S) has some sort of conflict with later releases.

A note to the people behind Reolink to make available older releases to everyone.

@meanbigbrother_172968072114399 So your new PC is on Windows 10. Save the DirectX file in a folder and unzip and execute dxsetup.exe. It will copy the ddls to system32 and SysWOW64. These won't harm your system at all and you still have the DirectX11 installed. This is due to the fact that during development DirectX9 was used. I am running v8.12.1 without issue so far.

As for older versions, we have requested Reolink to include older clients and firmware in their Download Center.

@meanbigbrother_172968072114399 So your new PC is on Windows 10

Windows 10 it is. Nice spot. I had a system which works, but I needed to, upgrade.... go bigger. The old PC was one of those mini PCs of Chinese origin I've been meaning to get rid for a while. With the "new" refurb, I can stick bigger hard drives in. Whilst the one before which got replaced was limiting.

Let's hope something comes of that request. The client releases of old with it's complicated interface were much better than the minimalist look versions which came after.

@meanbigbrother_172968072114399 Hello there, does your RLC-410S camera come with an UID starting with XCP? If it is the case, I am sorry that your camera is not compatible with Client version 8.10 or above.

It is recommend that you stick to v8.8.5 or below to avoid software compatibility issue, which results in streaming failure. To get the v8.8.5, submit a request with the link below and our team will get back to you very soon.
