We had substantial rain over the last few days (around 150mm). Cameras have been fine since I mounted a month or so ago but this morning I noticed the RLC-1212A making a beeping type of sound. And neither camera is showing in the app. I plugged another camera in to another port and it's working fine.

Searching here leads me to wonder if there is an issue with the rain and perhaps the reset button. I used the included bits to waterproof the ethernet cable but nothing was mentioned about the reset and power cables.

The rain is abating - is it likely the cameras will be okay?

And if they are should I be using silicone tape to waterproof the reset and power cables? Or use something else?

I have another 4 cameras that are mounted but not cabled yet. Hopefully these are okay.

@user_780488697958579_780488697958579 Of course all cables should be protected from moisture and rain. Use amalgamated tape and preferably put them in an IP 55 junction box.

@joseph_1979 I'm not sure about the "of course they should be". The only thing mentioned in the manual is the waterproofing of the UTP cable. Given the number of people who have had the same issue sounds like I'm not alone in following the manual.

@user_780488697958579_780488697958579 I, also, find it strange that the installation instructions mention using the waterproof enclosure on the Ethernet cable but say absolutely nothing about protecting the reset switch or the power cable. I have seen too many products proudly proclaim "waterproof" only to become damaged from rain. (Not just Reolink.) All of my cameras are mounted under eaves and all of the cables are run inside the wall. (True, a lot of customers do not have this option.)

@crimp-on_62210811129 Yes in my case not possible for about half the cameras. I'm replacing a couple of wireless Eufycams that have had no issue with water in those places. Assumed if we needed to purchase extra equipment to waterproof the Reolink cameras this would be mentioned. Hmmm.

Hopefully the cameras are okay when they dry out otherwise will be a warranty claim.

@user_780488697958579_780488697958579 We have asked support to put it bold in the manual. For all my outdoor cameras I use the junction box and even in the junction box I do use the amalgamated tape. Moisture gets in and if it enters the reset switch, the camera will enter a loop.

@joseph_1979 Think that would be a *very* good idea. After drying with isopropol alcohol my cameras seem to be okay. Once I'm happy they are fully dry I'll wrap in silicon wrap and investigate some junction boxes for those that won't be otherwise in the eaves etc.

@user_780488697958579_780488697958579 Ensure you get junction box with the appropriate IP rating. Then wrap the endpoints with amalgamated tape (this is used by Telco technicians to wrap underground joints of 1200 pairs) and forget it.
