Hello,I am using three Reolink Cams - two 5MP and my first one - RLC423, 4MP.I already noticed, that the nigt performance of the 5MP cams is better than the 4MP.But with the latest firmware update, it is almost unusable.Default settings are extremyl dark in the night - almost nothing can be recognized anymore. It is getting better when zooming as the additional IR LEDs switch on. But I need the full view - so this doesn't help me.With older firmwares I always found a setting (Gain Range, Shutter, Backlight) wich made the picture acceptable - but with the latest firmware its just impossible. As soon as I increase the gain range or dynamic range the picture becomes very grainy. The same settings on 5MP cams are working fine there. But I could live with the grainy picture, as long as it could be used.I set the max bitrate to 4096kbps - but as soon as the picture gets grainy, the actuel bitrate goes up extremly (over 30.000kbps) and the CPU load is reacing almost 100% - even when only one user is logged in.Then the picture is almost completly froozen. Is it possible to bring back the old performance? Can I downgrade?I need a solution urgently!Thank youJohann
Are your 5MP cams also RLC-423? We just upload the 5MP firmware to our website at https://reolink.com/firmware/#423 and you may upgrade to this version and see how it goes.
Hi Bob!Thanks for your reply - my other cams are RLC-422W. I am satisfied with their night performance.I found the old firmware for the RLC-422 (4MP) - RLC-423_889_17083008.zip and it was possible to downgrade.Night performance is still not as good as the 5MP cams. BUt at least it is usuable again.Hope you can keep up support for 4MP cams with new firmwares.
RLC-422W and RLC-422 are different models. We will continue to support new firmwares for older 4MP cameras.
Glad to hear from you, Bob, on the continuing support for older 4MP cameras firmware.
If I knew this forum before, I hadn't bought the RLC423. I very dissapointed about the performance of this cam. Autofocus is unusable, most of the time the cam shows a blurry picture. Most annoying is that the focus setting is not stored if you set a camera preset.I hope there's a fix soon(tm)
