admin password not required
-
I have an RLC-410S, with the latest firmware.
I can log on as admin with any password (or no password).
I did change the admin password from the default, and I also checked the "Enable login password" box.
How can I make it so that it will long accept admin login with the right password? -
Thanks. I tried that, but when I did the firmware upgrade it said "Upgrade Failed! Device is rebooting!"
The camera name did change. But I can still log on with any password. -
That's interesting. I'm having the exact opposite problem.
I could login fine with admin/custompw until the latest upgrade.
My firmware upgrade to latest version failed (RLC-410S_806_16060601) and now I can't login at all, even with default password.
Definitely a headache. -
For Reolink cameras, the default user name is admin, without password.
Some customers might type blank for the password, it is wrong.
Pls reset the camera do be default settings:
1. Power off the camera
2. Press the reset button (Please hold on and don't release the reset button)
3. Power on
4. Hold the reset button for 10 seconds
5. Then Release Reset button
After reset camera, you can do the related setting again . -
I have reset the camera using the steps above and reconfigured camera using the iOS app. In the app, clicked on the yellow-orange button to go to Device Settings. In the field:
Password <Please input Password>
I entered a new password, simple with no special characters, such as "HamBurger". Click the Save icon.
Go back to the Home screen (Devices). Press the Play button at the bottom. Camera returns Login failed and username/password combo box appears with username "admin" pre-filled. I enter the password I saved in Device Settings earlier and the camera returns Login failed.
Return to Device Settings delete (empty out) password field and Save. Return to Home screen and press Play button and app can connect to camera. But then a pop-up appears:
Alert
Using the default password is not secure, we recommend that you change your password now!
Well, I did but the camera doesn't like it. Also, a common programming technique is to offer a password verification field when changing the password, followed by a successful acknowledgement box. That tells the user that the password has been successfully changed.
Also, I have even tried to delete the camera, but as soon as I scan the QR code or enter it by typing it in, the app says this device already exists. Furthermore, I deleted the app from my phone and re-installed it. As soon as I opened the app, my camera was already listed and connected (with the default empty password). I wished that when something is deleted from the app's database, it means what it says! Perhaps that is the issue. The local database is not being cleaned out.
A bit frustrated and about to return the camera unless this is fixe soon.

Sorry for the trouble caused.
To change the login password, please click on the icon of the camera on the device list(the home page).
You'll see a window pop out asking for a new password, please input a new password and confirm it. Once saved, the new password will take effect.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused if this is not stated clearly. We plan to add this option to the basic settings in the near future, which will be forwarded to our engineer.
Currently, the Reolink client software will automatically scan and add the camera on the same network as the phone, that's why you will always find your camera even after you deleted it. -
Trying to reset the password for my system. Not sure how but it appears the "blank" password stopped working for my devices and I cannot login to them from either my desktop or mobile device. Do I have to reset each camera individually or is there another way?
Thanks -
One of my RLC-410ws appears to have failed last night, reverting to the default blank admin password after reboots. Installed this camera in June2017, and have been running latest fw for months. Neither hard reset (button press through power cycle per this thread) nor soft reset (windows client) has remedied the issue. Also reformatted card, alas to no avail. Importing configuration via windows client does not restore settings. All other cameras (8) working as expected. Anyone else have this issue?

FYSA, I brought the RLC-410ws inside, and it started working fine after 2 days, which support confirmed. I've mounted the camera back outside, and will monitor for failures.
