For the Argus Pro, how can I delete a recording from the SD card once I've watched it?
Right now, after watching them all, I format the card, but there's got to be a better way to delete a single or maybe a group of recordings.
      Thanks,
      Richard.

Has the SD Card ever "filled up" and not recorded something? My understanding is that cameras will automatically delete the oldest recording to make room for the newest one. These 1080p short recordings do not take up much space. My two Argus cameras that I have had since they were first shipped still have half of the 16GB SD Card space remaining, so it will be a loooong time before I get to see if they "wrap around" correctly or not.

No, it's never filled up, but when I use the app there doesn't seem to be any indication of which one's I've already watched. This means that unless I keep track of the time, I end up rewatching a few. If I can delete them, then I save time and phone data costs. Formatting is working for me, but is a few more steps than I'd like. Seems like they could add a long press to a clip to pop up a menu that includes a delete feature, and maybe a protect or flag feature. At a minimum, maybe the app could keep track of which videos have been watched and add a symbol, or change the color, though this is something that could take up a lot of memory if done in the app, especially since I have 64gb sd card. Being able to delete would be a better choice I think.

Thank you for choosing Reolink. There are three ways to delete the recordings stored on the Micro SD card:1. The cameras will automatically delete the oldest recording if the SD card becomes full. 2. You can format the SD card to delete all the recordings. 3. You can take out the Micro SD card from the camera, then delete those recordings on your computer.

              Carl,

Just a suggestion. It would be helpful if Reolink provided a mechanism for customers to request changes. Although I do not feel the same sense of urgency that this customer does, I support his concept. Cameras record "motion" all the time, sometimes literally 100's of time in one day. "Which of these have I already looked at?" Who knows? Reolink certainly doesn't provide any hints. The battery-powered cameras do not provide the capabilities (such as FTP) that customers could use to provide their own method of tagging and deleting files. Pulling the SIM card every day is just a dumb idea.

Other vendors provide formal web sites to suggest improvements. Netgear, for example: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Idea-Exchange-For-Home/idb-p/idea-exchange-for-home/label-name/orbi%20wifi%20system

It would encourage customers if they had a way to suggest improvements and give the developers something to think about.

There is also a limitation for a maximum of 3000 files on the SD card this means 1500 footages as it records each footage in lower and high quality in the same time. So for example if you set 30 sec post recording on Argus 2 or Argus Eco and you put the camera on a place where it is frequently triggered watching to a street it will start deleting footage after 4 or 5 days. If you go on holiday you will lost footage after 4 days. You can preserve still pictures from emails which are over saturated as it catches the first frame when the camera did not have time to accomodate the light conditions.
If you want backup your footage you have to climb up on a ladder grab out SD card (pretty hard as it is in so deep you cannot get it out with your finger nail) copy it to computer and put it back. You don't have any feedback from the app when it will reach 3000 files you can just guess if you are approaching to 16GB it is time to back up.
Even if you put in a 32GB or 64GB card it will never fill it you will not be able record more than 16GB on them as 3000 files took up aproximately maximum of 16GB storage.
There is no support to delete individual files from app or from reolink client to free up space for important footage. You cannot even download all the footage through wifi as the client signs out frequently. So there are a lot of limitations for Argus products in this scenario. Reolink eco has the same 3000 files limitation.

The restriction of files is determined by the video duration. You can click to learn how long can the Micro SD card record. For the problem of deleting the recordings stored in the SD card, here are way ways for your confirmation:
                    1. The camera will cover the old recording automatically when the Micro SD card becomes full.
                    2. You need to take out the SD card from the camera and edit the recording on the computer.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We will try out best to improve this. You may subscribe our emails to get the newest update: https://reolink.campgn4.com/Subscribe-Us. Thank you for your patience.

Restriction for number of files is not determined by the video duration or bitrate of recording. It is a fixed 3000 files value, does not matter how long a recording is or what was the bitrate of the recording.

                        Hello everybody,

a please to the support team / programming team.

Please add the following function to your software.

Automatic deletion / formatting of the SD card after 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours.

Germany is a difficult country when it comes to laws, I have a problem with my neighbor!

According to GDPR / DSGVO, all recordings must be deleted after 48 hours or at the latest after 72 hours.

It would be great if you could add this function as soon as possible. I am sure that many others will also need this option.

Until you offer this option, I don't know what to do. Uninstall the cameras ?!

                        Thank you very much.

You would not want it to automatically format the SD card as you would lose recent data that could be only minutes old.

If you are gone for a long weekend and it automatically deletes 48 hour old files, you could lose videos that might be important. If this was the case for all security cameras, thief's could use this to their advantage.

I am not a lawyer, so you should seek legal advice, but I do not think this law applies to security cameras, especially for individuals homes. These laws seem to be for personal data collected by businesses and other corporate/government entities. It sounds like your neighbor is misrepresenting the use of this law to mislead you.

@richard_17833301777 The law does apply to outdoor security cameras. The notification feature allows to get notified immediately and then it can be checked over the cloud or ways to access the local network if the activity is legit or not. This way recordings covering an actual incident can be downloaded. Such recordings can be kept until the case is closed. If there is nothing suspicious the recordings must be deleted within 72 hours (Austria)

I had the same problem with my Argus Pro and couldn't figure out how to delete recordings from the SD card. But after a bit of trial and error, I found a solution that worked for me.

What I did was use the Reolink app on my phone. I selected the camera I wanted to delete recordings from and went to the "Playback" tab. From there, I selected the date range for the recordings I wanted to delete and clicked on the "Delete" button. The app then asked me to confirm that I really wanted to delete the recordings, and after I clicked "Yes", it got rid of them for me.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you do delete recordings from the SD card, they're not necessarily gone forever. There are recovery tools you can use to get them back. So just be careful and make sure you really want to delete them before you go ahead and do it.

@nenavodi_648284329952350 My Reolink app does not have a delete button for specific clips. I cannot delete selected ones. It does not bother me. I don't have a need for this. Reolink says users can't delete specific clips:
