Disabling IR on RLS-410/410S/410WS

I realize that these models do not have any software control to turn off the internal IR illuminators - but I want to install an external IR Illuminator and disable the internal IR lights to try and minimize spiders from obscuring my camera with their web's from chasing the bugs attracted to the IR light.

I know opening the camera would void my warranty, but is there any information that can be provided on how to disable the IR LED circuit, yet have the camera operate properly re day/night mode?

Oh - and please add this feature via software control to the next-generation of bullet-cams

I've got the same problem with spiders on one of my cameras, causes havoc with the constant recording. I was looking at getting some spider repellent I've seen on Amamzon but haven't got round to it yet.

I was reading a post on another forum where it was suggested to insert a cutout around the LEDs to stop them emitting light and leave the daylight sensor area to operate normally. Don't know how well this works?

As you're probably aware, the LEDs are hardware controlled and cannot be switched off with software according to Reolink.

Same issue here - This is a big issue, motion detection is rendered useless at night due to spider webs.
Really need an option for disabling the IR LEDs without disabling night mode.

We know it will disable warranty, but there must be some modification we can do to circuit board / internal wiring?

As stated, motion detection at night gives too many false positives due to spider webs

Just a follow-up for others as a work-around for now....

I purchased a IR illuminator and a regulated 12V power supply that had enough wattage to power both the illuminator & the camera (actually to power two sets of cameras / illuminators). There are a number of these available on-line of various sizes/intensity - for my case I'm only working to cover an area around 20' from the camera so I did not need one that was too powerful. Most have a daylight sensor built-in so that they will turn themselves on when the light level drops and turn off when there is sufficient light in the morning.

I've mounted the IR illuminator about 3-4 feet to the side of the camera. I then took a couple of layers of foil tape and cut out a circle with a hole in the middle for the camera lens and covered the IR illuminator LEDs on the camera itself, leaving a notch over the IR sensor at the bottom of the camera area so that the camera will sense when to switch the IR filter on or off based on daylight.

I installed this about 2 weeks back now and my night-time triggers have gone to zero or almost zero (may have had 1 since then) - now it has also cooled down in our area and the insect activity may have died down at the same time, so it may be next spring/summer before I know if this is truly a "fix".

If you do open the camera, looking to disable the internal illumination, just make sure not to cut/disable the IR sensor and its associated circuit or else the IR filter in the camera will not properly activate.

This is an important feature for me.

I'm a bit disappointed to hear it's a hardware limitation on most of the current range of cameras:

I was hoping to point a cam through a window and use a separate IR lamp outside. Obviously this won't work if the internal IR can't be turned off. The camera will be blinded by the reflection.

Please add this as a future option.
