I have 3 RLC-410-5MP with BlueIris.

I am plagued with spiderwebs and flying bugs cris-crossing my IR PoE cameras at night. Just about every evening I walk a round with a cobweb brush, twirling the brush around the front of the camera, and lightly brushing up against it and removing the spider threads. my cameras get zoomed by moths late at night this time of year, too., but at least thats just a transient event, the spider webs tend to trigger over and over and over.

the thing is, i need a pretty sensitive trigger on the main driveway camera thats up on the chimney. I want it to catch a walking person or a vehicle coming in the driveway.

but that camera seems to get spider webs every night. I suppose there are spiders that live in the upper chimney that I have to eliminate or relocate.

Spiders, wasps, bees, birds are a common problem with all camera brands. Some say dome cameras are less likely to attract spiders than turret type, but I don't know if that's true. I had a bird attack one of my cameras last summer. Wasps and bees sometimes land on my cameras. Some people routinely use a soft broom to get rid of spider webs around cameras. At night insects are attracted to camera IR light. Some have installed IR illuminator lights several feet from the camera to attract insects away from the camera. A few months ago I installed a bright two bulbs flood light above the garage and it helps pull bugs away from the camera. Of course this means I have to leave it on all night. Looks like you live in a nice wooded area!

In my case, birds seem to be curious about my Argus 2 cameras with camouflage skins installed on the top of a tree. The Argus Eco sometimes show wasps, in daytime, or spiders, at night, but I wouldn't call it 'attack', really. In fact, a bit windy night is usually enough to remove spiderwebs. Also the pair of E1 Zoom I use indoors capture some flying bug (or a gecko foot over the lens), but all of these are not a problem because they trigger only a few alarms, moving shadows and branches blowing in windy days being far worse, but fortunately my 510A cameras have made a great difference at this respect. Even if at first they 'caught' some spiderwebs as 'vehicles' or 'persons', detection has improved quite a bit and now is pretty good to me. Anyway, actually my main problem with lenses is related to muddy rain, because dried droplets blur the image at night (not so during the day) but I'm not sure about the best cleaning method to avoid damaging them.

Please allow me to explain briefly how the camera detection works: the camera detects the motion based on the image changes (the background) in each frame. So when the object reaches a certain degree the camera will be triggered.
Intensive motion like rain/snowflakes, insects attracted by IR lights, may also cause frequent alarms which may not have a good solution to it.

yeah, I have good working PoE switches now, a couple of BV-Tech PoE+ gigE 4-port + 2 switches. and I found a whole catalog full of 850 nm IR floods, so I just have to figure out how I want to get 12VDC to the floods, and switch off the light in the RLC410.
