Reolink RLC-410 Stutering/jitter

Hello all,

I have been having an issue with both my Reolink RLC-410 camera, both seem to be stuttery at times.

Both camera are the same in terms of stuttering.

Settings:

Stream Type: Clear

Resolution: 2560 x 1440

Frame Rate: 30

Maximum Bitrate: 8192

H.264 profile : High

Antiflicker: Off

Exposure : Auto

White Balance: Auto

Backlight: Off

3D-NR : Enable.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

May I check some information with you:

1, if the problem with the live view or the recording?

 

2, do you connect both the camera to Reolink Client via same router?

Please make sure update both RLC-410 cameras to the latest firmware (available on https://reolink.com/firmware/) then try change the stream type to fluent and lower the bitrate.

I selected "System->General" Video Standard = PAL.

That limits framerate to max. 25 frames/second.

Life preview and .mp4 files are indeed a bit stuttery at times.

For example when a car drives by it's not perfectly fluent.

If your CPU is not maxing out (device you use for viewing) and you have enough bandwidth (e.g. local network) I guess this is normal behaviour.

1. Go to the configuration of your NVR and check the Video Standard in the wizard. Is the NTSC or PAL?


2. You can probably adjust the resolution and bitrate down a little and make the H.264 profile baseline. You see, when you make these parameters too high that means you will have more data to process in your monitor or for the encoder. So when your monitor is not so high-configured then it should be a little bit slow and cause stutter.

Anyway, it should have nothing to do with the "Anvanced Settings" .  Take a shot!

I'm recording on a Synology NAS using the ONVIF connection.

I tried all the above but video keeps being stuttering.

I even tested NTSC to get 30 frames/second, including the lowest and highest bitrate. (Normally using PAL @ 25fps in my region.)

No difference on the stutter at all. Only picture quality is effected using low bitrate.

Selecting Base, Main or High H.264 profile has no visible effect at all.

Is it really possible if a bicycle or car passes the cam it can be fluent? I tested all settings but don't see it happen.

We released new firmware and Reolink Client V7.1.2.43 recently, you can also try upgrade firmware to the latest version.

I tried the new firmware but that doesn't change anything in the stutter department.

No problem to send an e-mail, but I assume you can test and see this easily yourself.

Point an RLC-410 at some traffic passing close by, e.g. cars, bicycles are not fluent.

I have just recently raised this concern as well on my REOLINK RLC-410S that I just bought.
Looks like nothing can be done as this is not the problem of the firmware, it's to do with the "player" device that could not cope with the high intensity of the video (e.g. mid-range Android phones, mid-range GPU card on laptops, etc).

So we just have to live with Balanced/Fluent for Live Streaming, and record with 4MP@25fps and playback to enjoy the EXCELLENT CLARITY of the videos by REOLINK
