Wireless camera and NVR

I just bought an NVR with two RLC-420 cameras (amazing btw!). I wanted to buy another 2 wireless cameras to put them outside the house but it looks like they only work with ReolinkCloud. Why is that? Can't I set them up with my NVR?

True, the "totally wireless" cameras cannot be connected to the NVR. They also do not support the full set of firmware features that are found on the RLC cameras, such as directly connecting via a web browser, sending motion recordings with FTP, using different schedules for motion recording vs. email notices. I have two of the original Argus battery powered cameras, which I have converted to USB power. They can run forever, but the firmware still has the features Reolink put in to preserve battery life.

Sorry that the battery-powered cameras can't work with the Reolink NVR. I agree it would be great to elminate the limitation of preserving battery life if we put the wireless Argus battery powered cameras to constant USB power. For example allow download all the footage through reolink client without the timeout warnings and disconnections, use FTP to receive still pictures instead of email. Also it would be nice to let the user set a time interval for the argus camera to take pictures without PIR triggers.

Thank you for your suggestions. There are some restrictions on the battery-powered cameras at present in order to prevent battery abuse. I will forward your suggestions to our R&D staff and we will try our best to make our product better.

I agree with Rorb. The battery powered cameras can be powered with a USB cable, which means they never run out of power. When the camera has unlimited power, those restrictions to "conserve battery" make no sense. The customer should be able to use the camera. (Actually, if some dumb customer wanted to deliberately drain the battery by watching the camera constantly, why must Reolink forbid it?)
