OK. So there's goes my theory. Both those colours are conventional USB colours but mine is orange, which is propitiatory.

So far we have non-unifying white that does not work, and non-unifying red that works. I believe your going off the USB color codes, and the white is now obsolete. Please post your theory.
The mouse that myself and Glenn purchased off Amazon has a black insert, which means nothing possibly as it is a non branded product.

I thought I explained my theory, but obviously I wasn't clear enough.

Male USB Type-A connectors must come in one of 4 colours; White (USB 1), Black (USB 2), Blue (USB 3) or Red (USB 3.1). Any other colour means that it is a proprietary (I misspelled in previous post) piece of equipment which does not necessarily stick to or follow typical USB guidelines, rather like Dell who use a Yellow USB connector on a fair number of their own manufactured devices.

My Unifying receiver is an orange colour which suggested to me it was proprietary and did not necessarily adhere to USB standards, hence the reason it doesn't work on the NVR as it requires a specific driver.

I was trying to see if those that DID work were one of the standard colours and those that DIDN'T were of a non-standard, proprietary colour but @reolink's response put pay to that theory.

I just received my mouse from amazon and it worked also on my RLK8-800B4. Who would've thought something as simple as a wireless mouse would be such a headache.

Yes, there's a YouTube channel digiblurDIY who tried several wireless mouse brands. He says an Amazon basics wireless mouse works on his Reolink NVR.

digiblurDIY does not say in the video which mice he tried, but there's supposed to be a link on his page that shows the Amazon model that worked. It's about 5:45 minutes into the video he talks about it. You could post a comment on YouTube for his video and ask him more about it. Here's a link to the video. I'm planning to buy the 4K Reolink system with human vehicle detection when it becomes available. I want to use a wireless mouse due to where I'm going to install it.

I looked again at digiblurDIY video about the Amazon mouse he says works on Reolink NVR. Here is the link he provided:

The model number is MG-1823 but it looks like Amazon changed models of their Amazon Basics mouse, so who knows which/if a certain model number will work.

It would be nice if a Reolink member of staff posted here giving a list of wireless mice that are known to work with their devices. Better still, modify their onboard drivers to accept all mice drivers and keyboard drivers too; it makes it so hard to type long passwords in whenever you need to make changes to the system.

I bought my wireless mouse a couple months ago at the same time as my Reolink camera package, and prior to my discovering this forum and learning of potential compatibility issues. I'm just now getting everything installed. Happy to say that the mouse mostly works fine. This is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081C6MV6Q , listed as "Wireless Mouse, TeckNet Ergonomic 2.4G Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse 4800 DPI with USB Nano Receiver for Laptop, PC, Chromebook, MacBook, Computer."

It's plugged into the rear USB port. I say it "mostly" works fine because I use the mouse about 15 feet away from the NVR with a couple of large, metal filing cabinets between. Occasionally, there are brief periods of signal issues that don't occur when the mouse is closer to the NVR (RLN8-410).

Also did a wild guess, that the most basic wirelesss mice just work. And bingo!

Hi there. I read this forum for a while now. Purchased A Reolink POE 8 channel NVR with 10 camera's (March). Busy installing right now.
The system works fine! Me too, looking for a wireless mouse. I bought a week ago two: Logitech M185 and M238. First one works fine on both USB ports. The second no communication at all.

Why the M185 works on my system No clue.

                                  Greetings from The Netherlands

                                  Willart.

Just wanted to let you know that logi M350 (Logicool) is working fine.

                                    Nvr model: RLN8-410
                                    hw No. N7MB01
                                    build 24031817 GA 3.1

At first, it didn’t work, even after disconnecting it multiple times. I then took it to my brother’s PC, which has Windows, and asked him to update its firmware. He tried downloading the Logitech app, but it didn’t detect the mouse, even though it was working fine with his PC. I then returned to the NVR, and when I reconnected the USB dongle, it started working without needing a restart.

The simplest solution is to connect your wireless mouse to a Windows PC and try downloading the mouse’s app. It might update itself in the background without notifying you. Additionally, reconnecting the mouse’s USB to the NVR may have triggered something that made it work.
