I have an NVR and 4 IP cameras. I downloaded the Client software for my PC and added the NVR, which then found all 4 cameras automatically. Would there be any reason to add the individual cameras instead of the NVR?

Not really. If the cameras are like those typically sold with NVR's, they have no internal storage. All of the recordings are on the NVR. You could watch "live", directly from the camera, but you can do that through the NVR as well.
If there is a good reason, I can't imagine what it is.

May I know if those cameras are included in the NVR kit? If yes, you may know the cameras within kit don't have the UID. If you want to access the camera separately, you need to access them via IP address or DDNS. If you purchased the camera separately, you can connect it to the same router as the NVR. And then, you can access the camera separately in LAN via UID. If you have problems during operation, you can send an email to support@reolink.com for further assistance. Thanks.

Thank you both for the info! Yes the cameras were purchased with the NVR as a bundle. Sounds like just connecting to the NVR is the best method, i'll continue to do that. Cheers!
