      Hello!

I had best night quality with shutter speed set to maximum (125ms).
After the latest firmware update, this setting was still active - but I wasn't able to change any other thing, because the value was out-of-range.
It is only possible to use values upt to 83ms.

What was the reason for reducing this maximum value?
I can see significant loss in night performance.

With a shutter speed set too high maybe Reolink have noticed severe motion blurring?

I'm not expert in shutter speed, but I always have the impression that the smaller value of the shutter speed, gives lesser motion blur?

Can anyone correct me on this?

I alreaydy complained here that the new RLC-423 firmware makes the bitrade exceed all limits.
As I was able to go back to the older firmware, the problem wasn't so big to me anymore.

But as soon as I set the shutter speed to 83 (new max value) on the old firmware, the bitrate grows, too.
I supect, that the reason is a much more grainy picture that consumes that bandwith and makes the picture stop.

So, in dark environment a higher shutter speed is helpful - at least on "old" 4MP Reolink cameras.
These values should be possible an newer firmware, too.

The Reolink cameras (4MP and 5MP) will automatically drop the FPS to 12-15 fps during the night time. To set the images brighter, you may change the shutter range setting between 82-83. It's under Advanced settings>>Exposure>>Anti-smearing.

                Hi Bob,

that's good to hear - but means that my RLC-423 must be defect.

As soon as I set the shutter range to lower values (still possible on older firmware v2.0.0.889_17083008_v1.0.0.30), the actual used bitrate (System -> Performance -> BitRate) goes up to 20.000 kbps an more in the night - even with maximum bitrate (Encode -> Maximum Bitrate(Kbps)) set to 4096.
At the same time the CPU load (System -> Performance -> CPU loading goes up to more than 90%) - even with only one user logged in (User -> Online User).

A newly bought 5MP RLC-423 does not show this behaviour.
