My Spiders Need Educating!

Having had lower quality security cameras in the past of the Bullet type I had the issue of spiders which seemed to delight in making their homes around the camera's which meant you often saw a strand of web moving across the front, which, during the night sent the camera crazy as it kept thinking this was movement.

Upon reading more about security camera's I learned that Spiders love Bullet camera's, and to avoid this issue, you should change to Turret models.

So when selecting my Reolink 4K system I therefore decided upon the D800 turret model and not the 4K Bullet version.

However it seems the spiders around here did not get the message that they are not supposed to be interested in these, and after just 1 week I've had to remove at least 1 spider (with web) away from each of my 4 camera's.

So was what everyone had said simply not true and spiders are just as interested in turrets as they are bullets?
And is there any way (chemical?) I can put near a camera to put the spiders off deciding it's a nice place to be?

Is your goal just to deter them, or kill them? Each one requires a different approach.[br][/br]
Also, do the camera models you have work on motion detection or do they use PIR?[br][/br]
The insight regarding the bullet cameras is interesting. I've never heard that before. Makes me curious what attracts them to it. So far, I haven't had any trouble with spiders bothering my PTZ type.

I am constantly cleaning off spider webs, its like a nightly ritual with a broom. They leave my PTZ's alone but are always making webs on my bullets and driving the motion detection crazy.
I think it is because they have the small lip around the camera to attach to and some insects are attracted to the IR lights.
Just a guess but I hate spiders.
Wonder if some insecticide wiped around the rim of the camera would help.

Mine are just standard Turrets.
Having a read it says insects like the IR light, and therefore spiders built webs there.
Not sure I buy that argument totally as spiders like like to build webs in areas under the eves of the house anyway.
I saw there are bus sprays you can buy to spray the brickwork and the outside of your camera body (not on the lens)
not sure I fancy doing that.
Apparently peppermint oil is supposed to work, so that sounds a bit better.
Right now I'm removing any I find and blocking any little hidey holes they may take a fancy to!

Peppermint oil works, I have used it to keep elder bugs away. You just can't dilute it at all, if you do, it won't work.

I do have an idea which I might suggest COULD work.
I am guessing it would not be deemed safge/legal?
Or perhaps it might be I don't know, but I'd love to see tests.

What is my idea you ask?

Have like a ring or semi cage or something around the camera or build into the body of the camera housing which is bare metal.
A stainless steel band around the base perhaps? And run a low voltage thru this.
Not enough to harm anyone, perhaps like a tiny bit of static you get from a balloon or a door handle type of thing.
But enough so that any spider etc would touch it, and be instantly deterred?
