Is it possible to make my Argus 2 record 24/7 and have it record over old recordings when it's full? I have it on a solar panel so it wouldn't be an issue with batteries.
Since The Argus cameras are designed from the outset to conserve battery life, my guess is the answer is going to come back, "sorry, no". I do not have access to technical information, but I would not be confident that the solar power unit will produce enough energy to keep the camera running constantly all night. As an example, there are lots of solar powered garden lights, where the solar panels are supposed to keep the light running all night. None of them last that long. And, while there may be more than 12 hours of daylight in the summer, there is a lot less daylight in the winter. It also might depend on whether you want the IR illumination at night when it is recording 24/7. That burns considerable battery.Anyway, what an interesting questions. I'll be fascinated to see what Reolink says.
Hi, sorry for that the Reolink Argus 2 is not designed for the 24/7 working. It only supports the motion detection recordings. If you need the 24/7 recordings, you may choose the RLC-410W and record to your PC or FTP server. Refer to https://reolink.com/product/rlc-410w/.
Thanks. I know about FTP Servers (at least what it is but not how to actually do it, I'm reading up on that, but how would I record to my PC? Do I need a program to do that? Thanks
Hi, yes, you may use the Reolink Client and refer to here. But if you used the Reolink Client to record to your PC, you need to run the client on the PC for 24/7. So we suggest you may choose the FTP. Also, if you have more than 3 Reolink cameras (PoE/WiFi), we suggest you may choose the Reolink NVR to get the best experience.
