I was fortunate to be picked to test the TrackMix Wi-Fi Battery powered camera. When the package arrived, I was eager to discover how this camera would work.

The package was very good. When I opened the parcel, I found on top the solar panel. It is slightly larger than the previous panels, for a good reason, as I found out.

As always, they included all the required Rawlplugs, screws, etc. When I reached the camera, the modern look surprised me. The camera is stylish designed. She is a little heavier than the Argus PT which she is replacing on my house front.

I like the new bracket. It is much better. The installation was easy. I think the installation becomes all the time easier. As the camera is heavier, the new bracket holds it well in place. Over the month of testing, we experienced almost everything the weather can throw at us. Even in the strongest winds, the camera kept firmly in place.

The camera contains two lenses. One is for the wider view and the other for zooming in onto the object. As this camera is a PTZ, it is panning 355° and tilting 90°. Both lenses work excellently together. I have got my camera recording on the micro-SD card and on the cloud server. By the way, I am now using only the Reolink Micro-SD cards on all the cameras. (Available from Amazon) In the past, I had a few times problems with the Micro-SD cards from other manufacturers.

Once I had everything installed, I began with my testing. One could easily become overwhelmed with the many things one can adjust to the camera software. I installed the camera on my Reolink app on the android phone and on the Reolink client on my laptop. It works right from the start. But then, when you go through the different options, you realise how much more there is to this camera. If you want to fine tune the camera, then you will need a bit time. There are just so many options. Here are just some things to fine tune. The light at night. You can adjust the brightness to the way you need it. Perfect!

If you are checking a car park with some lamp posts at night, and you want to see the number plates, I found it best to go for the black and white mode without the infrared lights. This allows you to read the plates fine. I found, with the reflective UK number plates, the plates become unreadable if you also have turned the Infrared lights on. However, this depends on your surroundings. It will give you all the options to find what works best for you.

      The Tracking.

Was I impressed? Yes, big time. There is also an option where you can set the speed of the tracking. And it works excellent. Very impressive.

It has got person, car, and pet detection. Pet detection is still in beta but worked fine for me.

Once you have chosen where you want to have your camera watching as base mode, you can set this in the options and then give the camera limitations on how far you want it to go. It amazed me how good the tracking worked. One can tell that a lot of work has gone into the development.

One of the best features of the tracking is that it is almost silent. I can hear my Argus PT when it moved. The TrackMix is difficult to hear moving.

      The Wi-Fi

An excellent point is the dual Wi-Fi. It works reliably for me. I am connected to my mesh network, and my camera runs on the 5GHz band. Brilliant.

      Two-way Audio

This has improved to the earlier versions of cameras too. One can hear clearly and the person on the other end does also get a good reception.

      Colour Night Vision

Only during the test, have I used the camera in the black and white mode. As I have got two more cameras at the front of the house, (each with his own job) I don’t need the infra-red mode.
I don’t use any lights at all at night. Six metres from the camera is a light pole. It gives a little light at night. After midnight, it shines with reduced power. Still, this is enough to have full colour vision at night, without additional light.

      Alerts

I have set the camera up to send me alerts (text and picture) per e-mail to two unique addresses. This works perfectly.

It records to cloud and SD card. No problems at all.

Then I receive a push message too. All covered. 😊

      Conclusion

I love this camera. It shows how much hard work has gone into the development.

Naturally, there will be people who find things wrong. But that is normal.
Where do I see the use of the camera? Anywhere, where you have got Wi-Fi and difficulty to lay a cable. In an ideal case, you don’t want too much movement for the camera, as it will drain the battery. The solar panel charges the camera well, but it can’t produce miracles.
As all battery powered cameras use PIR sensors for the detection, they are a fraction slower in the detection. However, it seems to me this is working better on this camera too.

Based on this test, I will order the 4G version of this camera too for our remote garden. It will be the ideal addition to my two Reolink Go cameras and my Duo 4G  camera there.
Since we have the cameras installed, the theft of our produce has stopped. I wonder why? 😊
Thank you Reolink for the opportunity to test this amazing camera.

@reolink-fiona Hi Fiona, can you tell me if you have already started with the TrackMix 4G trials? If not, I would be happy to try the camera at the same site, where I have got my 2 Go and my duo 4G installed. And also, will there be a Duo 2 4G coming soon?

It seems like you're mentioning "TrackMix Wi-Fi Battery powered," but the context is not clear. "TrackMix" could refer to various things, such as a product, a feature, or a concept related to tracking or mixing. "Wi-Fi Battery powered" might imply that whatever you're referring to operates using Wi-Fi connectivity and is powered by a battery.
