Also would love Linux Client App. Browser is not smooth enough. Live in GA. Got 2 NVRs and 12 cameras with the option to add up to 12 more.

@antoinekeller007_651466299188253 On the Linux server connected to the same LAN where you have the cams, install nmap (sudo apt-get install nmap). Then use nmap -sA 192.168.1.0/24 or whatever IP range you have set and you should get device name, MAC, IP, etc.

I have 8 Reolink cameras for monitoring my house and office
I have a windows PC with Windows 10 but soon Windows 10 won't be supported and PC does not support WIndows 11
So either you release a Linux Application or I have to throw away all Reolink cameras and replace with another brand that actually supports Windows

Most people here don't necessarily even need a fully fledged linux client. A simple way to access our files through one of the standard protocols out there (HTTP(s), SSH, FTP; any will do) would satisfy the needs of over 80% of the *nix users, and won't be limited to Linux in its scope.

Just let us pull our files, and we will do the rest. I'd rather not run 3rd party closed-source software anyway.

@ybungalobill_671697982395081 Yes, you can admin the camera from a web browser on linux, but you can not stream the "clear" or 4k image to the web browser. Big problem for linux users. Shame.

You can managed your camera with vlc or mplayer with command like
                                mplayer rtsp://login:pass@192.168.1.xxx/h264Preview_01_main
and record video stream with command like these
                                mplayer -dumpstream rtsp://xxxxxxx -dumpfile my_file.ogg

But it's clearly an anachronism to not find a linux app for an ordinary product like a camera! Today you can find Space X source code on github, and if you want to run a simple Reolink camera, you have to spend many time to bypass a nasty software to have some simple features! ?????!!!

hey reolink - if your devs switch to Qt framework the same code will work for Linux/win/mac with no changes !

@dpbasti_318148249424117 It all depends on the dev team acquired knowledge and skills.

If one wants to write commercial applications, but don’t like to pay for developers licenses, go for wxWidgets.
If one knows MFC, go for wxWidgets.
If one knows WPF/XAML then QML should not be too hard.
If one wants a mature and easy framework that is quite well documented and has a great cross platform IDE (QtCreator), go for Qt.

The fact that it uses a metaobject compiler adds a bit of complexity to the build process and is just kind of ugly on an aesthetic level. People who write C++ like me loves C++ (I started programming in C++ since 1995 and never opted for another one). They don't want to write to some third-party extension to C++; that is, think of the vitriol we see when Microsoft designs frameworks like this.

                                          hello,
do you plan to take care of your Linux customers?

                                          Best regards

                                          Frank

An SSH login would be nice but I don't think it's necessary.
Updates and configuration are also possible via the web interface (HTTPS).
The cameras send the videos to the server via SFTP.
The live view is a little more complex. But it works via RTSP and ffmpeg (on the server). With a little bit of tinkering you only need an HTML5 video tag to play the videos.

What doesn't work is zooming or rotating. The web interface must be examined for this. It generates an access token after login, so everything can be accessed via HTTP requests. But I was too lazy to program it until now.

+1 for linux support. The current web version is not sufficient.

As other have said, doesn't even have to be fleshed out. Just support the basic functionality, so that the community can do the rest.

Alternatively just make the web version useable. Full CLEAR support, downloading more than 5 mins, etc

2024 still no Linux client. What a pity.
