reolink client 8.1.28 – UID connection
-
Hello.
Try to use reolink client 8.1.28 windows. No problems with connection in one network but can't connect any cameras through UID. Show offline status but no such problems with adding via 7 old version of reolink client. -
Thanks for pointing out that v8.1.28 is now available. I really wish that:
* The "Automatic Client Update" setting worked. (It did once and was great.)
* If automatic isn't going to work, then the About Reolink->Upgrade should work
(which failed to find v8.1.28)
* Reolink would publish a "Change Log" when a new version comes out.
(I realize supporting a dozen languages is time-consuming. How about picking
at least one language that Google Translate can handle.)
My RLC and Argus cameras continue to work well with the new client. -
Are your cameras and your computer connected to the same network?
If yes, please check if you can add the camera by scanning in LAN. -
As I told earlier: "No problems with connection in one network but can't connect any cameras through UID"
Scanning in LAN same network - no problems.
Adding via UIDs different network - not working with 8.1.28 no Windows and MacOS

Could you please upgrade your camera/NVR for a try?
If you are not familiar with this, you can contact our support team at support@reolink.com for help. -
my 6 cameras are with the latest firmwares:
1 E1 Pro - 20110204
5 RLC-410W - 20121102
my attempt was on the latest firmwares at once + reolink client 8.1.28 + adding via UIDs -
silence is golden?

Did you enable UID on the Client? Please go to network settings--advanced--enable UID.
Did you install the new Client and older version Client on the same PC?
If there is still no luck, please contact our support team at support@reolink.com. They will help you troubleshoot. -
--Did you enable UID on the Client?
Of course, certainly, yes!
No problems with V7.2.2.33 client version via UIDs! -
Describe the network environments more.
UID requires internet access for both cameras and client or UID can use broadcasts on the LAN between camera and client to learn the cameras IP.
It is also possible your NAT router could cause issues or a firewall could block the connection.
If you have 2 separate LAN networks with private IP routing between but if the device or client lack internet, connecting via UID would be impossible. Both internet and broadcast UID methods would be blocked.
Maybe you believe the 7.x client is using UID but it is not.
Or there is differences in its ability to use tcp or udp. -
P2P UID method via AWS is very different to UID discovery method.
UID discovery in a LAN context only uses the UID as a unique code in the broadcast messages.
P2P UID in an internet context uses the unique code in a request to the Reolink server to setup a punch throw connection to the camera.
What method of UID do you believe applies for you? -
Dears please try to understand me.
Cameras with network 1.
Connection from network 2 (internet).
On PC (network 2) installed both reolink clients: 7.2.2.33 and 8.1.28. Connection with UIDs.
No problems when using 7.2.2.33 and NO connection when using 8.1.28
Firmwares with the latest verions.
Why 7 verion OK, 8 version not OK with same pc and network configuration? -
The problem sounds a little strange, it may take some time to find the reason and fix it. Could you please contact our support at support@reolink.com for help? They may help you solve the problem quickly. If necessary, they will also report thi issue to the engineer for a check.
