Using a fixed encryption key common to all products is a bad design choice. When your "encryption" isn't really encryption at all, but is in fact a simple XOR of "Charlie is the designer of P2P!!," that is an even worse design choice. Reolink really needs to fix this security vulnerability for 3816 customers. So Reolink, while you're fixing this security problem, please fix the Adobe Flash problem that you promised to fix for us several years ago.
Adobe announced the upcoming end of Flash support in July of 2017. Reolink waited 3.5 years to start rolling out HTML5 firmware and did not make any exceptions regarding not to be updated IPC_3816M models until December 3, 2020. All along customers were lead to believe that an update for this older hardware was forthcoming. This was very poorly handled on Reolink's part and left many dissatisfied customers.
I also have a bunch of IPC_3816M RLC-410S cameras and also need to access via web browser. We've been promised this update literally for YEARS and now we're told at the last minute "we won't be updating." This camera would not have been "old" if you had made the update years ago as you should have, rather than waiting until the last minute. We've waited and waited and now you say "we won't be updating." Please reconsider this. You're about to have a bunch of unhappy, former customers on your hands.
In my case it is RLC-410S. I'm looking forward to the long promised update.
HTML5 in Chrome is working great in the RLC-510A I just received from Reolink for evaluation. There is a new button on the title bar of the window next to the "Center/Stretch" button that allows you to toggle between Flash and HTML5Hopefully we'll see HTML5 software releases for the older cameras soon.
Yes! I think we'll all be extremely disappointed if Reolink doesn't deliver on HTML5 after promising us this capability and this timeline for the last several years.
I'm not optimistic that they will get this done as promised by the end of the year. If they truly were planning on delivering this, they would be starting now. This is not a small epic.
Good news! Thanks.
Yes. When will it be available? I keep getting reminders in Chrome that Flash is going away and do I want to disable Flash now. You'll have many unhappy customers if you think that you will require us to replace all of our cameras to get HTML5 support. We purchased cameras with your assurance that HTML5 was "coming."
It's a bright day outside. My RLC410S (v2.0.0.1389_18081402) looks very dark when the picture is all white.I can adjust white balance so that it works well with snow, but then normal non-snow pictures don't look good.Any ideas?2019-11-11_10-20-34.jpg
I hope "Our senior engineers are working on it and try to find a better way for this issue" means that Reolink is going to implement HTML5 and not try to find a work around to keep flash going after it has been removed from main line browsers. The response sounds like the engineers are searching for a work-around. It's not an acceptable solution to force us to an old or unsupported browser version to "solve" this issue. Please fix this THE RIGHT WAY.
I am getting new pop up notices in Chrome that flash will no longer work after December 2020. I sure hope you guys are not going to wait to the last minute on fixing this problem.
One more comment. Running POE ethernet to the doorbell would be an issue for me. I would like WIFI for the device with the device powered by the existing doorbell transformer.
I was planning on logging in and making the exact same suggestion! Bernie beat me to it. This is a great idea. I want two video doorbells, but don't need additional monthly service charges and want it integrated with my existing Reolink NVR.
I understand the advantage of hiding the cameras behind a NAT for security. I am already dong what you are suggesting and connecting the cameras to a POE switch separately. You are correct that they don't use the NVR DHCP server in this case. So you are 100% correct that there is a good work around for this lack of capability in the NVR design.I think you are missing the point however. If you were to make a simple change to the NVR software, the _user_ could have the choice. If they wanted to change the default setting for this, they would be able to save and _not_ purchase a separate POE switch as I have done. There is a great little 8 port POE switch in my NVR that I am not able to use due to this design choice in the NVR.I'd much rather see this feature be added, than having your engineers continually redesign over and over the perfectly fine GUI for the Android mobile App. You can see from the responses of your forum participants that after two years, there is still a high level of interest in adding this capability.
If you want 2FA, why don't you access the cameras by a VPN and require 2FA to access the VPN? 2FA doesn't seem to me to be a reasonable camera function.
It does somewhat work, but the result is not usable. You can see the video is terribly compressed in height and the menu navigation is not fully functional. I am only able to log into cameras that have no password.Picture of Reolink APK on a Firestick
How about a video replay client for the Amazon firestick? It would be nice to have an inexpensive way of playing video from Reolink cameras at at TV. I was able to install the android APK on the Firestick and it ALMOST works! It looks like changes are required to support a different screen size on the Android Reolink client build.
Good point. When will this update to the software be made?
It's disappointing that after 10 months a suggestion with wide forum support doesn't appear to have made any progress towards implementation.
