Hello!Over Christmas break I updated my NVR (model RLN8-410) to firmware version v2.0.0.4210_1447. We set these cameras up at a remote site (900 miles away from our home) on a T-Mobile prepaid LTE connection with 6GB of data a month. The few previous months went off without a hitch! We only used about 4GB even when we would watch the cameras often and scroll through history. In December we updated the firmware when visiting the remote site and about 2 days later all of our data was gone for the month. This sucked! We had just started our month's data allotment. I tried through some trial and error (after purchasing some over-priced data for the day) that turning off the "Recording Schedule" for my two cameras (PTZ and Bullet w/ zoom) my data usage returned to normal. If you are wondering how I turned recording off, it was in a screen that looked like this: Any how, our next month of data is right around the corner and I was hoping to turn recording on so we could actually use the NVR we bought... Any one have any ideas why having the NVR continuously record would use data/require internet? Without being able to record history, the NVR is largely an over-priced PoE switch. Thanks!
Hi navi Sorry that sensors in alarm system ADK8-20B4/10B4 are not compatible with your RLN8-410 NVR, they use with DVR. These sensors connect wireless-ly with DVR in the alarm system pack and the RLN8-410 does not has the wireless signal receiver for these sensors.
That sucks. Could you guys PLEASE consider allowing us to use third party sensors? My ANCIENT Samsung DVR has alarm hookups for custom "alarm events" to trigger stuff on it. Alternatively you could expose an actual API to allow us to trigger events.
I’m not aware of any ports on the NVR or cameras to take advantage of a third-party product as you have listed. I would ask why you are not wanting to use the motion sensing of the camera to do this for you? Is this something you want to setup farther down a hall or area not covered by the camera and will make sure to pick up all activity coming from that location?
@Quella:My main reason is that, quite frankly, it is utter garbage (at least for my needs). It has so many false-positives that any sort of notification system is useless from all of them. I put my camera system up on my property in rural Montana which has plentiful wild life. I'd LOVE to capture some animal movement but with the rain/snow/wind, the camera false-positives literally every 5 minutes. I was hoping to get some non-video based sensors to try and remedy the situation. It is unfortunate that there is no way I can do this.@phraew: I see the NVR system you listed is pre-made with cameras, PIR sensors, and everything. Can I somehow buy the Reolink PIR sensors to use with my RLN8-410?
Yeah this is a real issue for me. Email alerts are largely useless with this happening.
Except you can speed up YouTube videos...
I have seen this is there are objects slightly out of view of the camera. I hypothesized that the IR was being blasted back at the camera and causing some weird haloing.
When we go over our data cap, we have to connect via 128k and I can confirm that the experience is quite bad. It seems like there is a very short time-out for operations. The camera will also often "fail to open", which really sucks.
+1 for an option to disable auto focus.
Hey guys,I am looking to hook up a PIR motion sensor. I was thinking about something like this:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000U3DYH8/ref=s9_simh_gw_g60_i1_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=J7GQ6ZGWTAEA3D9TSQB2&pf_rd_r=J7GQ6ZGWTAEA3D9TSQB2&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=a6aaf593-1ba4-4f4e-bdcc-0febe090b8ed&pf_rd_p=a6aaf593-1ba4-4f4e-bdcc-0febe090b8ed&pf_rd_i=desktop How would I go about having my NVR and/or cameras start recording using such a device? There doesn't seems to be any sort of port for causing a motion alarm.
Try adjusting your sensitivity. The motion detection is pretty shabby, so even small shifts in light can trigger it.
