If you do a FAQ search, you will get plenty of info there.I have also read through some Amazon.com reviews that provides feedback on this as well.Just do some search.
A user on the manufacturer's support forum should not have to troll through Amazon reviews to find out the results of reverse engineering. There should be a clearly accessible tab at the top that is "APIs" or "Support Documents".I'm not saying Reolink's products are bad at all, just that their communication is VERY poor (especially in this area).
This is just sad... Terrible show of "support" from Reolink.
Hey guys! This set up is using the RLN8-410 to power the PTZ. This set up is actually about a thousand miles away from me at the moment, so if there are any remote debugging vectors, please let me know. I will try a PoE injector next time I am over there. Also worth noting: The camera's PTZ works again this morning. I think it may be related to the heat, because the camera and NVR are in/on a utility shed in western Montana which is around 100 degree Fahrenheit these days. It looks like both should operate up to around 130, so not sure why they'd be failing. I'll keep a look out to see if the PTZ motors are failing in the evening when it is hot out. Thanks for the replies!
Hey guys! Lately my RLC-423 Has been experiencing this really frustrating issue where PTZ no longer works. If I try to move the camera at all (using preset positions or through the thumb sticks thing) the camera disconnects/freezes/restarts. I can no longer rotate/zoom my camera :(.Anyone know how to fix this? It is a recent change in behavior. It sounds like the motor may be busted or something.
You could try to forward the other ports. UPnP is not always supported, so you may need to open them manually for your device.
It doesn't. From my experience, using the web browser with a large quantity of video (high res video or a bunch of smaller lower res ones) its just not performant. The desktop app is a lot better if you're on a compatible device. It has a lot of stuff wrong with it (terrible DPI scaling because they refuse to use native UI for it) but it does perform pretty well, even for a large number of cameras.
I have a few things that I make sure I do when I set up a new camera:
Deer are coming to town!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_bLNXsHjac&feature=youtu.be
Rotating a set number of degrees (45, 90, 180) would be a god send on slow connections. It sucks trying to use the pointers to turn when it is delayed ~ 10 seconds.
Spotted another deer!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_wu7EPgeLU&feature=youtu.be
Hey guys. On the mobile app, I can hit a "Record Video" button while watching some playback history and it will save what I see as a video to my phone. On the PC app, how do you do this? This is the screen I am talking about: Thanks!reolink.png
This system has a few IR sensors, but it seems sort of "one off" and not that well supported: https://reolink.com/product/adk8-20b4-10b4/
Hey Quella! Your third point sounds about right. I am a little confused though. I definitely do have the UID system set up because we are on a mobile phone connection and we do not get a public IP. It was set up this way prior to updating the firmware and only seemed to used data while I was explicitly connected to the device, where as now it seems to use data 100% of the time. This point:
Any data being recorded is also forwarded unless you prevent it on the devices and your internal firewall/router.
Cool! Location?
Kalispell, Montana, USA!
I asked and got an official reply: https://reolink.com/topic/3rd-party-motion-sensors/Sad news buddy.
I should also note that I looked at the bandwidth usage and saw that the NVR was uploading all of this data, not downloading. Any ideas what it would be continuously uploading data when set to record?
Yeah, unfortunately the DPI scaling in the app sucks a lot. I've used Samsung Smart Viewer (anything but smart...) and Reolink's client. Both roll their own UI instead of using native (Windows) UI for some reason and it makes the experience SUCK.
Hey guys! We set up a few Reolink cameras that are working pretty well (other than an issue related to data usage mentioned here, please help!). Hope you enjoy the animals as much as we do Elkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hOOL04fvaohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHivE-AyRfgDeerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2r5ia85ZJohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR59UuxKerwFox??https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B_Wv2hRrSYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm6ZoP7TCIE Let me know if you have any questions!
I have the most recent update on my 16 channel nvr. I would really love it if the NVR would have the option for FTP uploads of images. Large video ftp uploads are not possible with most people’s servers and connections. I’m sure this is an update that is coming (being as all of the cameras have the option now, the sooner the better). Below is the image of the ftp setup screen for my rln16-410 nvr
Try updating your firmware and your Reolink desktop app. Mine looks something like this:
Here I found a paradox in the first post. Haha…Intersting thing is if you can not access the NVR, how could you even plug the camera to the NVR? Then if you can plug the camera to the back of the NVR, why can not configure the camera on NVR itself.. paradox it is.. Also if you asked your family member to help with plugging, then usually the system is plug-and-play. (Unless it is more complicated in your situation). All basic settings can be done for NVR in my Client. Just curious..
I specifically set up cameras using a wrong protocol and then left the state. Now I cannot change those settings even though I can connect to the NVR remotely. I hope they add remote camera management at some point. A side note: I feel that plugging in my NVR into a monitor sucks! I never do that in real life, I always use a computer. I should be able to plug in a camera and add it from my phone/computer.
