@reolink-daisy Hi there,I’ve just got the new Reolink Go PT Ultra. For that, I needed another sim card. As my other three LTE cameras had Vodafone’s V-Sim, I thought I wouldn’t have a problem connecting. But as soon as I tried to get another V-Sim card, I found they were no longer selling them. Now the panic mode kicked in. Fortunately, I had a brilliant response from Joseph and he pointed me in the right direction. I tried to find out the actual data use I had with V-Sim. When I contacted their help line, I found out that V-Sim cards were all for 40 Gb. Knowing how much we use the cameras, I realised I would need more data allowance. I spent the weekend searching the web for all companies and the data sims. After the weekend, I went to my mobile phone service (three) and asked them for help. The guys were superb. They came up going through different scenarios and finally they offered me excellent conditions. My wife and I had our data volume increased for a little money. Then, instead of getting data sims, they gave me 4 phone sim cards. I am now paying just 120% more, which is a lot better than the 400% offered by the big guys in the business. The setup was easy, and it worked right from the start. Anyone needing a new sim card, talk to your company. They can do a lot more than they advertise. As for my PT Go Ultra. Superb. I write a report about that next, as it does not belong in this mail.
Hi Joseph,I just wanted to let you know that I’ve got it all sorted now. (Thanks to your excellent advice) I checked several deals, but they were all rather expensive. Then I spoke with my current phone contract supplier and they were superb. I upgraded my two phones for very little money and got four more sim cards for my cameras. Now everything works perfectly. It was so good; I didn’t even need to enter any data like the APN file. Just turned my cameras off, exchanged the sim cards and booted the cameras again. That worked super easily. By the way, I found out that the V-sims had a limit of 40GB data. That explained why I sometimes had problems with the speed of the connections. I had reached the limit. I use the cameras a lot. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
@joseph_1979 Thank you Joseph. Now I can get the right sim card for the camera. I can't thank you enough for your help.
@joseph_1979 Thank you very much for this excellent explanation. Can you do me one more favour? With the V-Sim, I didn't have to enter anything but the ICCID and IMEI. Where would I have to enter the APN in the App/Client?
@cotters_469494706512076 I have got the same problem. Can’t get any reliable answer. When I tried to phone up to see which sim card would replace the V-Sim, no real usable answer. When I asked if the cost of me dialing into the camera would be on my phone or on the camera, I was told it would go on the phone. Later I read in the forum it would go on the cameras. Like you suggested, it would be excellent if they would supply the sim card. On one of my go cameras, I got a sim card included. But that was a one off.
@joseph_1979 Hi Joseph,I did that now too, but a week later I have not heared back from them at all. So I forget it now.I wish you a "Merry Christmas" and "A Happy New Year".
@kyra_lan Who is going to get these gift boxes? And when are they going to arrive? I am still waiting for the CX410 I won in the competition on 5th July 23.
@thongsleigh_263573017145565 Hi there, I am using both types of cameras. If you ask me, I would always try to go for a mains electricity powered camera. The reason is, when it rains or it is cold in winter, the cameras are always powered on, which keeps them a little warmer. Therefore, they are not having fog on the lenses. Another advantage is that they are much quicker active. But where there is no mains electricity, the solar solution is the next best thing. I hope that will help you.
@160334357029011 I don't have any actual issues, but... There are two little things which worked previously, yet now no longer work as well as they did before. When I scroll through my screens to check my cameras, the go cameras are on one screen with four displays. Previously, I clicked on the arrow, and as the page appeared, the cameras were connected. That has changed in the last version. I have to call the site up and wait until the connection of the cameras failed. Then I need to click on the cameras on the list and they connect. This used to work without the extra click. The second thing is that my list of the cameras is in a specific order. That always worked fine in the same way as it works on my phone. Now I have a minor problem in as far as two of the cameras in the list always swop the position. This is not anything big, but a little niggle. Otherwise it works perfectly for me. I hope this will help you.
@reolink-lorenz I am looking forward to the Go Ultra. Hopefully, it will havea lrger solar panel and then the ability to heat the unit a little to stop the fogging of the lens in winter or damp conditions.
@antonio089_626720538640449 Hello Antonio,There is one question. Do you want the cameras for outside of the property, or for the inside? And if for the outside, how much area do you want to cover.? I would suggest to go for cameras from the Go series or the dual lens LTE Cameras. These you can run with solar panels and they do work excellent. I have got four cameras of this type and it has helped me and the police a lot. These cameras have sim cards on board and record on micro SD cards. For a small additional fee, you can also configure them to record on Reolink cloud. I use both recordings. The recordings on the micro SD card can be longer, but if someone steals the camera, you have got no proof. I hope this will help you.
@reolink-fiona I would like to see the ColorX Technologie used in the Reolink Go cameras. Which makes sense to me. I use them in an area where we don't have electricity. The Go because of its 4g capability is ideal as the camera there. The only thing that is missing is the light. Now, if they had ColorX too, they would be perfect. As they would see anyone coming close and raise the alarm with full colour pictures. The Duo LTE covers one part of my area. But naturally, the first thing burglars do is disable the camera. It surprised them to find out we had filmed them the whole time because they hadn't noticed the Go cameras. They run off. But, with the footage of the duo, we had colour pictures of the thieves. The go cameras had only black and white videos. The police caught the thieves shortly after we gave them precise descriptions of their clothing, which we had from the Duo.
@reolink-fiona To be honest, for me, that is an impossible task. I have got two Reolink Go's 1st generation, now quite old yet working like they did on the first day. Then I have got an Argus PT 1st generation, which is now old too, but works like a young one. Then I have got an RLC-811A 1st generation, also old but still works fine. A Duo PoE 1st generation follows this, also now "old", but still works superb. Then I have got a Duo 4G 1st generation for my remote site, and you probably guessed it, it works also brilliantly. And to round it off, I have got the TrackMix Wi-Fi, and it too works superb. When I look at all of them, I cannot make a clear favourite out. They all got their good points and I love them all. You have just got to pick the right camera for the job. That's all. So, stating all these facts, i presume eliminates me from the competition. I just can't pick a favourite with the cameras. I wish everyone at Reolink "Happy Anniversary". Keep up the excellent work. You are getting stronger and stronger. I hope I will see many more new development in the next few years. Best wishes to all of you from England.
@reolink-fiona This is amazing. Reolink leading the way again. Congratulations to the entire team.
@janser-dienstleistungen-gmbh_257000373518575 No one forces you to buy such a camera. However, there are cases which benefit from 24/7 recording. If you have got them connected over the LTE system, often, if a car or person goes past the property, they are gone before the alarm reaches the owner. By having the camera already recording or being is active standby mode, the alarm acts right away. There is also the fact, if the camera is warm, it copes with damp and frost without losing the clear view. For the uses I have got for it, it is ideal. Without the larger solar panels, the camera could not record over two days if the sun was not reaching the panels. And with such large panels, you need a stronger mount to cope with all weathers. The camera itself is actually relatively small. I hope this will give you a different perspective to consider. No offence meant.
@reolink-fiona This is the camera I've been waiting for. It seems to have everything I missed on the Go cameras and even the Duo 4G has had this problem. As the cameras are not in a continuous on mode, it sometimes takes too long to activate the camera when, for example, a car drives by. By the time I get the notification, the car has already left. And the biggest downside was in the past that fog or frost would cover the lenses once it got cold and damp. I had already thought about sending this on to the developers, but as it was, there was no chance there would be enough power coming from the batteries. Now, I am intrigued if the "TrackMix LTE Plus" with the new "Solar Panel Plus" overcome these problems. It sounds very interesting. This is what I wanted a long time ago.
@reolink-fiona Hi Fiona, can you tell me if you have already started with the TrackMix 4G trials? If not, I would be happy to try the camera at the same site, where I have got my 2 Go and my duo 4G installed. And also, will there be a Duo 2 4G coming soon?
I was fortunate to be picked to test the TrackMix Wi-Fi Battery powered camera. When the package arrived, I was eager to discover how this camera would work.
The package was very good. When I opened the parcel, I found on top the solar panel. It is slightly larger than the previous panels, for a good reason, as I found out.
As always, they included all the required Rawlplugs, screws, etc. When I reached the camera, the modern look surprised me. The camera is stylish designed. She is a little heavier than the Argus PT which she is replacing on my house front.
I like the new bracket. It is much better. The installation was easy. I think the installation becomes all the time easier. As the camera is heavier, the new bracket holds it well in place. Over the month of testing, we experienced almost everything the weather can throw at us. Even in the strongest winds, the camera kept firmly in place.
The camera contains two lenses. One is for the wider view and the other for zooming in onto the object. As this camera is a PTZ, it is panning 355° and tilting 90°. Both lenses work excellently together. I have got my camera recording on the micro-SD card and on the cloud server. By the way, I am now using only the Reolink Micro-SD cards on all the cameras. (Available from Amazon) In the past, I had a few times problems with the Micro-SD cards from other manufacturers.
Once I had everything installed, I began with my testing. One could easily become overwhelmed with the many things one can adjust to the camera software. I installed the camera on my Reolink app on the android phone and on the Reolink client on my laptop. It works right from the start. But then, when you go through the different options, you realise how much more there is to this camera. If you want to fine tune the camera, then you will need a bit time. There are just so many options. Here are just some things to fine tune. The light at night. You can adjust the brightness to the way you need it. Perfect!
If you are checking a car park with some lamp posts at night, and you want to see the number plates, I found it best to go for the black and white mode without the infrared lights. This allows you to read the plates fine. I found, with the reflective UK number plates, the plates become unreadable if you also have turned the Infrared lights on. However, this depends on your surroundings. It will give you all the options to find what works best for you.
Was I impressed? Yes, big time. There is also an option where you can set the speed of the tracking. And it works excellent. Very impressive.
It has got person, car, and pet detection. Pet detection is still in beta but worked fine for me.
Once you have chosen where you want to have your camera watching as base mode, you can set this in the options and then give the camera limitations on how far you want it to go. It amazed me how good the tracking worked. One can tell that a lot of work has gone into the development.
One of the best features of the tracking is that it is almost silent. I can hear my Argus PT when it moved. The TrackMix is difficult to hear moving.
An excellent point is the dual Wi-Fi. It works reliably for me. I am connected to my mesh network, and my camera runs on the 5GHz band. Brilliant.
This has improved to the earlier versions of cameras too. One can hear clearly and the person on the other end does also get a good reception.
Only during the test, have I used the camera in the black and white mode. As I have got two more cameras at the front of the house, (each with his own job) I don’t need the infra-red mode.I don’t use any lights at all at night. Six metres from the camera is a light pole. It gives a little light at night. After midnight, it shines with reduced power. Still, this is enough to have full colour vision at night, without additional light.
I have set the camera up to send me alerts (text and picture) per e-mail to two unique addresses. This works perfectly.
It records to cloud and SD card. No problems at all.
Then I receive a push message too. All covered.
I love this camera. It shows how much hard work has gone into the development.
Naturally, there will be people who find things wrong. But that is normal.Where do I see the use of the camera? Anywhere, where you have got Wi-Fi and difficulty to lay a cable. In an ideal case, you don’t want too much movement for the camera, as it will drain the battery. The solar panel charges the camera well, but it can’t produce miracles. As all battery powered cameras use PIR sensors for the detection, they are a fraction slower in the detection. However, it seems to me this is working better on this camera too. Based on this test, I will order the 4G version of this camera too for our remote garden. It will be the ideal addition to my two Reolink Go cameras and my Duo 4G camera there.Since we have the cameras installed, the theft of our produce has stopped. I wonder why? Thank you Reolink for the opportunity to test this amazing camera.
@lindsay_464625727078605 I have got the same problem and have reported it some time ago to the service desk.I am surprised that they have not yet given it top priority. The version 8.7.3 works fine on my Samsung RF-711 with win 10 and 8 Gb DDR4 Ram i7 processor. However, on my brand new Samsung Book2 Pro with Win 11 and 16 Gb DDR5 ram and i7 latest version, I get the same problem. I have tried everything, including disabling the Anti-virus program, as well as uninstalling and re-installing. Sadly, nothing works. At first, I thought I was the only one with this problem. I had seen on the forum, others had black screens to, but theirs were working again. Well, mine isn't.I have now the version 8.8.* installed, but it didn't make any difference. I still get the black screen. Although I liked the new look of the installation screen. Well, back to the drawing board.
