Captive screws would work as well. I was just installing a Duo 2 and it appears that they are captive, but the ones on the 823 and 822 were not. Thanks!
Huge plus for this!
Extra SD card cover screws! I got very, very lucky with a magnet when I dropped one in some mulch. An extra screw with each camera would be nice. Although it is nice to be able to change the card without dismounting the camera, I am not sure that is a good feature from the security aspect. If someone is familiar with Reolink cameras, they could easily remove the card. Using Torx screws would provide a bit more security since they are far less common than slotted, Phillips or Allen fasteners. Axis uses Torx and the SD card mounts inside the mount. It would also be good to have set screws securing the aiming of the RLC822A and holding it to the mount. Someone can just reach up and re-aim the camera or pull it off the mount. Again, this is something Axis did better.Sorry I keep using Axis as an example, but they had a very well thought out line for the residential/small business market which they essentially dropped. The Reolink cameras offer a great value, stunning daylight quality and I am adding lighting outside to improve night quality. The company seems responsive to users which is a huge bonus.
Not the original poster, but if they mean what I thing they mean, it would be what we see in Axis Companion. You have a skip back and a skip forward button when viewing clips which a lot easier than trying to drag a pointer to the right clip or trying to drag through the clips displayed at the bottom of Reolink client. It allows you to skip to the next clip when you realize it isn't the one you want or skip back. There is also a skip back 5 seconds button which is very handy to watch a portion of a clip over. If I could combine the best of Axis Companion with the best of Reolink client, I would be really happy. I have not gotten a DVR yet, so I don't know what functionality might be there that I don't get with the client.
Just put in a Duo 2 and totally concur that a 3 window option would be wonderful
I didn't like the idea of just having recordings on the SD card in the camera pending getting a DVR, so it dawned on me that I should be able to record to a Synology NAS I have for some other uses. It then dawned on me that I could have it back up to the cloud backup service I use. The path is through the computer, so it shouldn't work when the computer I am using is not on, have not verified that, but I have a couple that stay on all the time, so I should be able to get a good back up with one of them. The cloud service I use will backup files in real time which probably imposes some drag somewhere, somehow, but it is nice to reduce the chance of data loss. Brent Spiner would be appalled it that happened. Not sure if that will help anyone else, but the more places I can keep data, the more comfortable I am.
Can a camera be set to continue to record to the SD card and used with the Reolink Windows client and Android app while also saving to the Synology NAS? At some point, I will likely buy the Reolink NVR, but in the meantime, it would be really nice to have it backed up away from the camera without dealing with cloud storage. Thanks!
@user_597307671535691_597307671535691 Forgot to add that on the 823A, the PTZ controls pop up in the middle of live view, so you have to drag them to the side. I find that a slight annoyance, hence the desire to have them dock on the left side of the screen in the blank area. They fit nicely there. It would be great if they just stayed there all the time, but when I check out a recording, they disappear when I return to live view.
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 The 16x playback is better than the 8x you get with Axis to be sure, but the forward and backward buttons for date as well as the calendar are nice to have. Fixing bugs takes priority in my mind, but perhaps they can add these things at some point. I have some motion floods ordered to see if I can perk up the night performance. Axis seems better, but all of my Axis cameras have 2.8mm lenses, so if some isn't really close, you don't get much. The RLC-823A is so nice in daylight that it is frustrating to not be able to do better at night. I think the solution is simple, lots of light.
It would be nice if the PTZ menu that pops up from Live View could dock in the black area on the left side of the screen.I have used Axis cameras with their Companion client for several years and their client has fast forward and reverse buttons on the playback menu which is really helpful for zipping through clips when looking for something. It is often easier than dragging the pointer back and forth. There is also a jump back 5 seconds button on Axis and you can advance or go back a day with buttons or bring up a calendar for a large change of date. I realize some of this is what I am used to, but overall, I find playback is easier to use with Axis. I am in the situation of needing to run two systems due to Axis moving away from the residential market/price range and their PTZ and zoom stuff has gotten rather stiff in price and I now need those capabilities. Thanks! I am enjoying my 823A and about to add a lot of white light for night use in hopes of being able to get forensic quality at night around our vehicles.
