I wish you could add detection of rain drops and wind-based movements so these events can be filtered out. Many of us have this problem, if its either rain drops passing by in front of lens or a tree branch that suddenly moves a little. All could be filtered out IMHO. A thin glaring line heading from top to the bottom, sometimes with an angle or a tree branch that moves within a defined limits. Hope you figure out these problems and make our surveillances better.

Which camera are you using? Are you not using the AI/smart detection? I've been getting rain almost daily for a week now and my Duo 2 is working fine without issues. -
@jedi2020_32727772450952 Same here. AI for DUO 2 will be further optimised in the next firmware release.

Not sure about the others but I have motion turned off and just use people and cars for alarms. I don't have your problem. -
@chuck_529633235447953 Recall that not all cams have AI. I assume the complainer is one of them.
-
I also have the problem that my Reolink doorbell thinks raindrops = a person. I've lowered the sensitivity, hope that helps.

I‘ve the same issue with my RLC-823A.
Even Smart detection are not able to cover rain or fog -
@user_635300470997033_635300470997033 Is rain or fog detected as a person? If yes add a delay of 1 or 2 sec in the alarm delay. There is also the object size which you can use to avoid false detection.

yes Rain are detected sometimes as person. I will try the delay.
But the delay would have an impact to the light switch for a real person too..
Fog is a mass with the IR Lights, I think at the moment about some external IR Lights instead the internal IR leds.
I cover the full range of 30 meter..
The externals IRs should help for this situation because less reflections direct to the lense..
Can you confirm this?
Dave Reolink a supporting „smart“ external IR Spot in the portfolio?
I found only the normal lights

@user_635300470997033_635300470997033 1 sec delay will not have an impact on the person detection. Try it out. There is another parameter which you can use, namely, the object size. But I sort it out with the delay timer.

This night I got record for a car in the raining phase.
I‘ve no trafic on my ground, only my own cars was parked in the groound.
I had played with the object sizes over the last weeks, but for the most persons I got an allert for person or pet.
For the car I don‘t see a chance to cover the rain with the size. -
@user_635300470997033_635300470997033 Can you download the videos in clear mode and forward them to support so they will investigate and tune the AI detection? Place the files in Google drive and include the links in the email.
I do not see any other parameters to change. -
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318
yes I will try, today I realise that it comes directly better when I made a reboot of the RLC 823..

@user_635300470997033_635300470997033 this happened to me so many times. When I obtained the cameras at first, I was just testing them. For example I've pointed them at a wall or at a closed door. And out of nowhere a car was detected. Only once was this resolved - in the corner of the image was a fridge with a car on a magnet/sticker. It was hilarious - distance between the camera and fridge was 2 meters and the magnet/sticker was approx 8x4cm.

For clarification, I use two cameras RLC-842A and RLC-542WA. I use motion based recording, and notifications only for person. The 542WA does not have pet detection, so I have to record all motions. Bugs and spiders usually don't bother me, but wind and rain does. The cameras aren't that smart unfortunately (and don't have AI).
Delay - I use for person since in the past I got false alarm in the notifications.
Object size - angle and distance don't allow me to setup a minimum object size since I want to detect also pets and person (also in distance).
Like I said in the first post, glaring line could be filtered in future sw update...Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

Agreed, not understanding rain is a big issue and causing consistent false alerts.
