I just bought a POE doorbell last month and in the process of testing/identifying what I'd need to work in my ecosystem. Great doorbell by the way. Generally, I think the market needs more POE doorbells. Personally, I'd love to see Reolink take this market dominated by Nest and Ring....The way I see it is there are some small tweaks that could be made in the way of missing software/firmware architecture...Im working through the missing architecture. Doorbell presses...check....motion detection...great!...video feed through RTSP...works nicely (Could be a little faster, but acceptable). Only thing thats missing is 2-way audio in order to make it seemless in my eco-system. Rather than bug Reolink for that capability made me ask the question....Is Reolink looking to provide matter support at anytime in the future? That would make my life (and I'm sure many others) alot easier. I'm confident you guys can accomplish this. Lets do this!

Thank you @reolink-fiona! This would be amazing!

@user_629911810629744_629911810629744 Matter is here and together with Thread they should make smart home connectivity a lot easier. But it is still not yet there on camera since version one lacks functionalities. But it will come.

@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Thank you! So, if I'm reading you correctly, is it safe to assume matter (and Thread) will arrive with a future hardware version of the doorbell?
-
@user_629911810629744_629911810629744 This is the way forward but if and when this shall be implemented by Reolink, then their R&D has to confirm.
-
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Ah Ok! Understood! Thank you for clarifying!
-
@user_629911810629744_629911810629744 I see that this is still a bit early and would say that there are more important features to add before implementing this. This is my personal opinion.
-
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 I would respectfully disagree on prioritization and probably should be left up to Reolink to decide? I would think it would depend on the R&D Capacity. A perfect scenario would be 2 parallel efforts to address these points.
-
@user_629911810629744_629911810629744 We have no knowledge of their strategies and prioritisation. On large projects I add resources and do my utmost to complete it before the agreed dates. I would like to see them implement a number of features, features which have been implemented by their competitors for quite some time.

@reolink-fiona Matter and Thread support on REOLink devices would be awesome! I just converted my system from Ring to REOLink, and am missing integration with SmartThings and Alexa. Yes, I can see my REOLink cams on Alexa, but can't run any routines based upon motion etc. like I could with Ring. And there is not SmartThings integration yet that I can find. Matter integration would make it so much better in the future.

@vartaxe To find the most accurate and up-to-date information, I recommend checking Reolink's official website, product announcements, release notes, or reaching out to Reolink's customer support directly. They would be the most reliable source for information regarding their plans for Matter support and any firmware or software updates that may include new features.

I totally agree, more POE doorbell options would be awesome. I've been eyeing the Reolink too, and it's great to hear your positive feedback. I also think 2-way audio would be a game-changer for these doorbells. Matter support could definitely make things more seamless.
Is there a plan for reolink firmware to support matter?
