I have an Amazon Fire tablet which I use from time to time.As we know the "official way" to get apps on a Fire Table is via the Amazon App store. And many apps are not on this store (don't understand why as it's still Android, but hey.....)I did a search and found a Reolink App. But it does not look the same, esp the playback area in the screenshot.-So my question is. Is this App official from Reolink?I don't want to install some 3rd party copy of the app which may be risky.I've taken a photo:Does this look Genuine?
Since it isn't mentioned anywhere on the official Reolink client download site, I'm leaning towards "No". But, I guess we have to wait for a Reolink employee to chime in on this.
Hopefully will get an answer tomorrow, even Reolink need a weekend to relax I'm wondering if it looks different as it's an older version to the one on the Google Play Store.-Honestly I don't understand why almost all apps are not on the Amazon store.Fire tablets are Android tablets, and there are millions and millions of Amazon Fire Tablet users out there.Tens of millions probably and I don't know why anyone who makes an Android app would not put it on the Amazon store.-There must be some reason so many devs don't to that.Perhaps it's Amazons fault and they block too many?Be interesting to know why.
Dear customer,Could you go to the google play to download Reolink Client? We can guarantee that the app on google play is the official app but we cannot guarantee whether it is an official app on Amazon Store. You may also download the Client from our official website here.https://reolink.com/software-and-manual/Thanks.Have a nice day.
Cynthia.Thank you for the suggestions and download links. All of the Amazon Fire tablets, which are just Android tablets with Amazons User Interface on them can officially only download apps from the Amazon Store. It's not super important for me, as I have the Reolink client on all my other devices, I was just going to put it onto my Fire Tablet also, but as I say wanted to check it was an official Reolink app first (I have no reason to think it's not offical) but thought someone at Reolink may be able to confirm, as you can see in my photo's, the apps last update is April 2020.It's not urgent or really important.Perhaps someone from Reolink dev side, at some point in the future could confirm if it's official? Thanks
My app store shows 223 reviews on the app, But it appears it is the same app I've had on my Fire tablet for the last 6 months, The ASIN matches. The playback looks different now as that is an older image in the app store. All links in app are Reolink. Its legit.-You can also put google play store on your fire tablet to get more apps.
Thanks "timbercreek"I mean I thought it would be genuine, but the UI looked different, hence I was guessing it's an older version.I would have thought Reolink would of "had a word" with Amazon if it was not official, but thought I'd check here for some official reply just in case -Thanks again for your time checking this out
The Amazon Fire tablets do have an Android based operating system but tailored to Amazon's requirements. They do not have Google Play Store or Google Play Services on board so you are forced to obtain apps from Amazon's dedicated app store. That is very easily fixed.Just go to the 'How-To Geek' website and they have a simple step-by-step guide in plain English.Put "How to Install the Google Play Store on an Amazon Fire" in the search box.It takes about ten minutes to bish bash bosh.
