Good or bad web builders, what are your spiders up to?

This one isn't even attached to the camera, just built in front of it so I am assuming the IR lights will attract some food.

Maybe it is because the shape of the camera has made the spider able to create the webs. And the ir light can attract inserts so that the spiders made the web. The only way to make the web disappear is to clean it. I know the camera is mounted quite high, you can see if there is a long broom that can sweep away the spider web.

@Cynthia I was just posting a pic of a spider web across one of my cams, one of the best webs yet, usually they are just a few haphazard strands blowing in the wind. I do use a broom and get rid of them.

IR lights attract spiders. The solution is to stop using the built-in camera IR lights outdoors. Disable IR lights and use a separate IR illuminator that is at least 1-2 feet away from the camera. Then the spider web will be around the illuminator instead of your camera lens.

This solution works great with the newer cameras. Unfortunately, the 1st generation RLC cameras cannot disable the IR light. My workaround was to cover the IR LED's with electrical tape, an ugly and only partially successful solution.
