RLC-823A & RLC-523WA Tracking Beta 4.0 Firmware: Added Auto-tracking Horizontal Range & Schedule
I have set up an FTP server and tested it. Now that the FTP server is working properly, I would like to connect the E1 Zoom to it.I followed the steps, but when I click the Test button I got an error message saying "454: Connection failed. Please check your network connection". I saw a post saying that the Reolink client doesn't understand private IP addresses (192.168.0.1), so I changed it to a public IP address, but got the same error message. I then saw an article saying that my ISP is blocking port 21, so I changed the ports to 2100, but I'm still getting the same error message. I can still verify the FTP server is working. I tried all of the troubleshooting steps. What else can I try?EDIT: I'm getting a forum error message saying that I can't include links in my post, so I've removed all the links. The post might not make as much sense without the links.Thanks,Shane.
@shane_480776827805926 You can try to have the troubleshoot according to this article, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900002125826-FTP-Test-Failed.If it can't work, you can upgrade your camera with the latest firmware. V184.108.40.2066 is the latest firmware for the E1 Zoom with the hardware version IPC_515SD6. Download the latest firmware here, Download Center – Reolink.
I do not have an E1 Zoom, but my other Reolink cameras send motion captures to an FTP server on my local LAN at a private IP address (192.168.1.x)I have run into an issue with the latest software on the RLC-510WA camera where the camera setting is to use plain, unencrypted FTP but the camera attempts to connect using an encrypted connection and the FTP server (FileZilla 1.3) rejects the encryption methods on the camera. I found this by looking in the log file of the FTP server. With the previous software, the camera did FTP just fine. The only way forward for this camera (and keeping the newer firmware) was to install a second FTP servers. Hoping that eventually Reolink will get around to fixing the FTP function.Care to mention which FTP server you are using?
I apologize for the delay, but I'm not getting email notifications for replies. I don't know what's wrong. I'm still getting an error message saying I can't include links in my post.I have a WD My Cloud, which supports unencrypted FTP (port 21). It's good to know that a private IP (192.168.0.x) will work. That is preferable because my ISP is blocking the public port 21. I'm going to see if there are server log files I can access that would give me information as to why the connection is being rejected.I have tried all the troubleshooting steps.I was going to update the firmware, but I noticed something strange: my hardware version is eleven digits long (IPC_515BSD6), but the hardware version on the downloads page is ten digits long (IPC_515SD6). The name is the same (E1 Zoom), so I don't know why the hardware versions don't match.
@shane When you go to the download center, you can click the drop-down box to choose the firmware you need. There is a version for the IPC_515BSD6. If you want to receive the notification/email for the reply to your post, you can try to set up it in your settings.
I updated the firmware from version v220.127.116.11_21040708 to v18.104.22.1686_21112408, but I still can't connect with FTP.The reason I am trying this is because backing up to a network drive only works when the Reolink client is running. If the client isn't running or my laptop is turned off, the camera doesn't send to the hard drive. Does FTP have this problem? Or does FTP work all the time?
@shane FTP will work as long as the camera is working. If you still can't connect to FTP, please submit a request here, Submit a request – Reolink Support. Our tech will have a further check for you. You can attach some screenshots of the error message and your system info.
