You are making plenty camera's with HRD/WDR
In many situations the brightness of the background (in clear daylight) is much higer then the face of the erson at the door.
This makes it impossible to recognize the person.
I do not know a work around for this if any exist, but that is something essential for a doorbell

At this moment this is a showstopper for me.

@joseph_1979 I need to try to do so. Need to mout the doorbell on its final spot before I can. At this momen I can only make a small indoor clip with the window behind me.

@user_690336118845693_690336118845693 It's fairly simple. Follow this link https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/12703234053273-Configuration-Video-Doorbell-PoE/

Visitor detection when someone presses the button.
Person detection when someone passes within the detection zone of the camera.

You may save the video to the internal microSD and/or to an NVR and/or cloud and/or an ftp server.

@user_690336118845693_690336118845693 Implemeting true WDR will definitely augment the price tag and won't be competitive. Perhaps a digital WDR may help but I do not think this is well implemented on Reolink camera. One can adjust the brightness and shadow but this is not WDR.

@joseph_1979 I agree, digital wdr would be a better workable solution. And if it takes a lot of processor power, heating up the device, only activate that when a person is detected and on a buttonpress

@user_690336118845693_690336118845693 Could be a solution if processing power is an issue but processor can handle it without any issue. It is rather a strategy/resource/priority issue.

This is a common problem with home security cameras. Doors with overhangs, porch roofs etc. can be very dark compared to background bright light, sunny sky. A face will be too shadowed to see it. Some brands have HDR/WDR setting. Depending how good the HDR/WDR function is, the benefit may or may not be enough to ID a face by the front door. Plus a bad guy could just lower his face with a cap or use a mask. Reolink app has a brightness control which will make the foreground brighter but the background may become brighter than you want.

I second this. I absolutely love nearly everything about this camera, but the lack of HDR is a huge hole. A person's face can hardly be made out in the daytime. Adjustments in the picture can be made to brighten up a person but at the expensive of "blowing out" the background.

@ryandanielwood_77905830711496 Submit your request to Reolink support. The more requests they have the higher the probability of implementation.

@ryandanielwood_77905830711496 This is a common issue with many brand cams. Some brands say they have HDR but they don't really work that great. Some cams that cost more have good HDR in my opinion. If this is the only cam you have, I suggest you install another cam above your garage door, etc. for multiple views. It's wise to have double coverage anyway.
