Thought I should update this:Just installed the beta software on my faster PC and it's totally fine on that one.On my older PC it struggles playing back at the full clear quality and is stuttery. If I lower the quality then it's smooth.-So, it just seems, for some reason? (perhaps as the video is being scaled to any size?) it takes more computing power to display the feed?-It's a new app and this PC is a few years old, so I can accept this. Can't expect new apps to always run person on older systems.-Of course there is always a chance things change from beta to final release of course
NVR. I have suspected after my first use of the beta their will be some minimum requirements to get the full use out of the client. The old client runs fine, both playback and live.
I would imagine the beta client with also be optimized so it is able to function more efficiently on a larger variety of system configuations.
Cynthia, Can you direct me to a link for the latest Reolink client software. When I execute the 8.05 version I get a big dark screen on my computer and nothing else? Is there 64 bit versions of the client software? Thanks
WARNING:REOLINK's NEW Beta Client (up from 8.0.5 to 8.1.7) has REMOVED the control for CONTINUOUS recording from the app. DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT to update yours until they explain that this is not going to happen, and that there is another way that CONTINUOUS recording is defined in the PC CLIENT. If this is happening it is not acceptable. If it is not happening, please explain how you control it in the new 8.1.7 PC Client. The PLAYBACK feature also does not show continuous recordings in the view.
Correction: You can still VIEW live playback. The client glitched getting the library, but the menu item to record continuously is no longer there. Reolink, any feedback on this? Why would you remove the control to record continuously (TIMER)?
Can you please clarify some aspects of the situation? Is this the option under FTP that on Windows client 7.2.2.33 has three choices: Motion, Normal, and None?whereas 8.1.7 has only Motion and None? Thanks
Thank you very much for your feedback. I will transfer it to our R&D team. But it may take some time to implement it.Thank you in advance for your patience.
Crimp, it is the ability to set recording based in a timer parameter (renamed from normal recording I guess) rather than none or motion based. So they have just removed it. The old menu with TIMER value for recordThe new menu with it missing and trying to fool you into thinking that your current setting of TIMER is MOTION. Misrepresented. Please fix it. old-record.pngnew-record.png
Thank you very much for your feedback. I will forward it to our R&D department to fix this problem.
Cynthia, When I activate Windows: https://home-cdn.reolink.us/files/client/electron/Reolink%20Setup%208.0.5.exe on my laptop all I get is a black screen with no control features of any kind. Any suggestions?
I tried the beta, current version 8.1.18In the "normal" client I was able to Playback all / several cameras at the same time. And this was the most interesting feature. I can't find how to do this in the 8.1.18 How I should do?If this is not possible, is it planned to add again? How can I switch between the beta version and the normal version to compare and to use features missing in the beta?
I have both Windows client programs installed. They appear differently under the Start menu and I select which version I want to use at the time.
Thank you Crimp On, I also found this and I also have both versions and can switch.
It would be very helpful to have more control in the playback interface. For example, it would be nice to be able to select a time range to focus on (ex. between 2:00 and 2:30). Additionally, it would be great to have a forward and reverse play option. Here is an example of my struggles with the current solution. The time bar represents a full 24 hours in the day, so when I click on the time bar I can get "close" to my desire time period, but it isn't very accurate because it represents a full 24 hours. I then use the playback speed to accelerate playback. If I go past my desired event, I'm forced to click on the time bar again. It would be great if I could just play back in reverse.
We will forward your request to th R&D team to help them improve the products in the future. We are still keeping improving our products and software all the time.
Hi, I would like to second Tom's suggestions above. It's tricky to "play again" something you've just seen unless it happens to be exactly where a movement alert is (and motion is enabled). The time bar is good, but lacks resolution if you're trying to go to a particular point in time, being able to zoom in/out of the bar so you can increase/decrease the time resolution would be one solution to this. The frame advance button is useful, it would be handy if there was also a frame reverse button and perhaps a button to go backwards say 10 seconds or the ability to play in reverse.Buttons to jump to the next/last motion alert would be useful or to duplicate what is in the Mobile app where you can click the event time and it jumps straight to it.Thanks!
We really appreciate your suggestions. We will also forward it to the R&D department. Your suggestion is an engine for our progress.
Not sure what happened to my system. The previous windows client (I'm on win7) crashed quite a bit. Lucky to have it work for a few days. Generally when I want to see a recording the client had crashed, out of luck.So today I go to check it, can't load the client (reolink is already running!) that's great but client window won't come up. I go into task manager. There is NO WAY to end the task. I tried everything including a special windows task manager I downloaded from Microsoft. So I download the new latest client.Ok... so this looks completely different. All my settings are gone. I had to uninstall the older client software. Of course some of my camera passwords are different than the rest.... like I have time to rent a man lift and go up 2 storeys and press the reset button... man oh man. What a pain.Luckily my iPhone client allowed me to create new admin/user accounts. What I don't like (and I haven't tried playback yet which never worked on prev versions) the camera view options seem more limited, can't have larger windows for important cameras, etc. Kind of annoying. I'm still getting to know this version but where are the detailed recording settings? It seems there's only a general choice and 5mins seems too long uses too much HD space. So far not impressed. Wasted 2 hours on this "update".
Just updated to the very latest version of the new Windows Client. All working OK for me, but I'm sad to see the simple request of remembering the window size it was set to, when you last shut it down is still not working. So every single time I run the Reolink Software I have to stretch it out on my screen, as it does not remember. And I do not wish to maximise it, as it looks weird on an unltrawide monitor.Almost all other software remembers it's window size, please can this be added in a future update?Thank you.
