Reolink Client Beta For Windows
-
Any new versions since 8.0.5 for testing?
Is it possible to run the release version and the beta version on the same system. -
I tested it myself. Yes, you can run the release version and the beta version on the same system if you install the beta to a different directory than the release version.
-
Is this a closed beta test, or is the software available for download somewhere?
-
I haven't seen anything since 8.0.5
Here's a link for anyone wanting it.

Well, the appearance certainly is more "modern". Have not used it enough to determine if functionality is any better.
I do like that "full screen" does not hide the Task Bar like 7.2.2.33 does. (better).
Thanks so much for sharing how to find this beta.
It "found" all my RLC cameras immediately and provided a method to change the password so that the program can access them.
Although it also discovered my Argus battery cameras, I can find no obvious method to input the password for them.
I guess the method is to "Delete" them and then add back by UID? -
There should be a little icon up in the corner of the box for that camera that when you hover over it says "Edit", there you can enter the proper password.
Same thing happened to me with my battery camera. The program added it in and right away said "Incorrect Password" and I was "...Well, that's because I never gave you the password, program".
When adding a battery camera it really should come up with a prompt asking for the password when it adds it in. It's still in beta, so it's a work in progress.
Besides the password thing, I find it works quite well. I like it much better than the previous software. I have some Reolink cameras that I installed at my mother's house. It was much easier to show her how to use the new app, and if she forgets, its intuitive enough that she remembers shortly after looking at the screen what to do. The only thing I have to keep reminding her of is that you need to ask people what they want, as a courtesy, before yelling "Go Away!" into the 2-way audio feature. -
Maybe my original Argus camera is "Special". For the RLC cameras there was indeed that "edit" box (which is gone now - hmm).
The two Argus cameras have only the WiFi settings icon and one that says "Retry." I made a screen shot, but unlike other forums I post in, "IMG" wants a URL for the image, instead of offering to upload it. -
Just use lightshot, https://app.prntscr.com/en/download.html once installed just tap the PrintScreen button on your keyboard, select the area, click on the cloud icon and paste the link. It wont display the image here but at least its quick and easy without the hassle of uploading your image to some site and then posting here.

Very frustrating experience. The network scan clearly finds the two Argus cameras, but login fails (obviously, because the password was changed months ago). I then "Deleted" the two cameras and clicked on "Add a Camera". There are three choices: (1) Scan Device(s) in LAN, (2) IP/Domain, (3) UID.
I was finally able to add these cameras by entering the UID, saying "OK. I know it is a battery camera and viewing time should be reduced." THEN... selecting "Connect to camera" which asked me to enter the user name and password.
Along the way, I noticed that the "Add a camera" process brings up a list of cameras with a Plus Sign "+" next to each. If I click on one of them, I get an error, "Camera already exists." So, what's the point of it being there in the first place?
I have definite opinions of features I would like to see and would LOVE to be part of a Beta Test group. Is there some process to join? -
Good question. I guess we would need someone from Reolink to answer or send an e-mail to Support.

Way cool. Windows client 8.0.5 announced an update is available. Clicked and it updated to 8.1.5.
No more checking the Reolink web site all the time to see if there is a new version.
THANKS
Tiny disappointment: Did not see any "Release Notes" describing "what changed" between 8.0.5 and 8.1.5.
The progress bar on video playback is still not there. -
Search again, it has just been updated to 8.1.7
-
This is SO FUN. The Client app checks for new versions every time it is opened.
and the updating process is smooth.
So far, I see no reason to use 7.2.2.33.
Wonder if anyone has discovered something that 7.2.2.33 "does better" than this Beta?
(All I have found is the lack of a "progress bar" on video playback, which I guess is not all that important.) -
I would like to STRONGLY suggest a change for the new Beta windows client.
with regards to the playback area.
-
On a large, high resolution monitor, this playback window is too small and cannot be resized.
It would be great if this playback floating window could be stretched and re-sized to make it easier to use.
-
Thank you. -
How "Big" is this monitor? I can use the "expand" icon in the upper right to fill my entire screen with the Reolink Client app, and then click on the "split" icon in the lower right to have the entire picture area show only one camera view. I can also stretch the screen to the right or down to make it any size in between.
-
Thank you for your suggestions. We will transfer it to our R&D team and they will pay attention to it. Thank you very much!
-
Just to clarify what I meant.
Not the actual replay window (which as you said can be stretched out to any size you wish)
But the floating timeline window you can pull up.
On a large, high resolution screen, this small floating timeline window, you can't stretch to make bigger and can be quite small to operate.
It would be lovely if this floating timeline window could also be stretched to appear larger and then easier to operate.
Thanks. -
You are correct. Would be much better if this window could be adjustable. (sorry I misunderstood)
Another suggestion:
The 8.1.7 Windows Client correctly remembers the "split" setting (how many cameras are being displayed) and restores to the way it was when the program was closed, but....
It does not remember the size of the window and where it was on the screen. EVERY TIME, the user has to move and/or stretch the screen. Tedious. -
It needs to be dockable, that floating window takes up valuable real estate during multi channel playback and is constantly in the way no matter what. I have multis so I just drag it to another screen to get it out of the way.
