You can use the PTZ function if the camera supports it. The attached photo is a screen capture of the PTZ function taken on a Mac using Safari.

Cat6 should be just fine to use. Just test prior to installing to make sure cable performs. Not sure about WD drive, but if its installable in the NVR and formidable then its basically just a hard drive. I use several WD portable drive as backup storage on Mac and PC's without any issue. If you mean as an additional mobile drive to the NVR I'm not sure as I don't use a NVR yet, the user manual for the NVR should point you in the right direction.

I used watertight electrical boxes I got from Home Depot. See Picture. I mounted the boxes by cutting the bottoms out big enough to cover the 4-gang electrical outlets. I silicone sealed the boxes to the under-hang of the house with concrete screws. The house is concrete. I drilled a hole big enough to get the end of the ethernet plug from the camera through. I put the ethernet plug thru first and then the other two. I have boxes on all four corners of my house with the RLC-423WS (pictured) and RLC-511 off each box. I use Powerline adapter to utilize the house electrical lines to conduct the network signal. I have had this system installed for over 2 years and so far it has worked flawlessly and survived several typhoons.

I won't guess what Reolink's official answer will be but, I know for a fact when my Internet provider is offline I can still access and see in real time video on my local network/LAN. The only time I ever get the poor network message is on cellular connections and I know from testing and using the cameras over several years its the cell carrier with the bandwidth problem. I assume since they will not admit to it, that the cell system throttles the video stream down over time to save their bandwidth. I lowered the bitrate in the video feed on my local down to 4096 and don't get the message as often.

Oh please spare me the sarcasm the camera isn't born with the complete function, I don't appreciate your arrogant condescending tone of your response. If this job is too much for you maybe your talents would be better suited somewhere else. YOU, said over a year ago to another customer the h.265 will be coming out soon. Telling the truth seems to be a problem for Reolink.

I don't want to be critical of Reolink, but why would I want a security camera system that would allow Google or Amazon or anyone else to have information about the camera, location, video stream etc. Less integration with the big tech companies and more feature such as H.265, 8mp resolution, license plate capture etc., in a affordable price point. I know these features have been suggested for many years versus Google!

Well did you figure it out?

On the Mac client you will see the list of cameras you have installed on the right side. Simply put your mouse or curser over the camera you want to see playback and click on it and drag to one of the playback windows.

Both times I had this problem I either downloaded the wrong version (3816 vs 5213 etc.) or the file name was too long. I'm not sure why the file name would be too long but when I rename the file and shorten up the length it would work.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be my cell provider. I bought some prepaid sims from different providers until I found one whose cell network worked well. Not sure what the problem is since a few of the cell providers weren't interested in helping figure it out.

If you have the older firmware file you can downgrade the firmware.

You get what you pay for. These cameras are cheap because they are cheaply made.

No support for H.265 yet?

The key is to mount high enough or behind a theft resistant cage or barrier. Keep in mind you can only slow down a thief you can't stop one.

You could, but the key is if you or someone is close enough to prevent theft or damage.

Why isn't there firmware upgrades for the RLC-423WS camera's? Hardware version 3816M

I use an iPhone X without any issue. I would recommend you check in "Settings" to see if the Reolink app is allowed to use cellular or wifi or both when in use.

I know my 2-cents worth here won't help you, but since the last firmware update on my camera's (RLC411WS) PIR and motion detection is all over the map. Reolink isn't very quick to fix issues.

The Reolink Official answer is only their NVR's support their cameras. Although going through other threads and other user forums, many people use Synology NVRs using I think it was Blue Iris software (not 100% sure of the software). As i understand their Reolink's NVRs they can support the resolution without any problem. But if your lucky, Reolink support will post a more definitive answer for you. I have several 411ws in a concrete block and rebar house mounted outside, so the wifi signal strength was terrible. I used TP-Link Powerline adapters which utilizes your existing electrical power lines running through your house and used the built in ethernet to monitor the cameras. Once you plug in the ethernet cable the wifi is disabled. So i didn't need to run cables.
