Thanks for the update Bob.
Thanks Bob. I hope your team moves quickly to fix these issues.I'm willing to continue in good faith with my cameras but I'll have to hold off the recommendation to my neighborhood association until I see the actual fixes. It seems another change to the playback timeline bar in this release allows a double-tap of the bar to toggle the upper timeline between a 2 hour span and a 10 minute span. Very nice feature! I'm surprised you did not mention it in your response to my post. Be sure to mention the feature in your documentation.
Also, I was all set to recommend Reolink to my neighbors and to my entire neighborhood association (hundreds of houses) but these negative changes have made me pause to first discuss this with you.
There are some nice things about v4.5.0.3.But sadly, there are visual changes to the playback that make it much harder to use.In the previous version the blue color of the video clips on the timeline bars had a good contrast to the background and was easy to see. In the new version the light blue color is extremely difficult to see.In the previous version the time "hash" marks in the upper timeline bar was clearly shorter than the video clips so I could distinguish one from the other. In the new version the look nearly the same height on the portrait page and identical height on the landscape page.In the previous version the upper timeline bar was a 1 hour range which made the width of the video clip markers adequate to see. In the new version the upper timeline bar is a 2 hour range which makes the width of the video clip markers too narrow to easily see.In the previous version the "range marker" in the lower timeline bar was a green box and easy to see. In the new version on the portrait page it is just a thicker bottom line that is much harder to see and on the landscape page it is a nearly invisible blue box.In the previous version, the timeline bars were somewhat transparent so you could see the video behind them. In the new version the timeline bars are opaque. Please, please, please, revert these items back to the previous design. Or at least create new user preferences to control these display items. Please keep in mind, there are many people (including me) that do not have the great eyes we did when we were 20-30 years old. High contrast displays are vital to usability. I will gladly give you my time for free to provide alpha/beta feedback on UX design changes.v4.5.0.3V4.4.1.3v4.5.0.3-playback-small-1.pngv4.5.0.3-playback-small-2.pngv4.4.1.3-playback-small-1.pngv4.4.1.3-playback-small-2.png
Here is the corrected template.reolink-rlc-422w-corrected-template.pdfreolink-rlc-422w-corrected-template.pdf
+1 for automatic live stream on mobile/cellular data.I get why you do it to avoid nasty surprises on data usage but give us the option to make it automatic.
+1. Please fix this.
@Philip, I don't have an Argus 2 but it may have the same issue as my C1 Pro.When the C1-Pro is mounted to the ceiling (base pointing up), the motion detection grid is mirror image for vertical detection. Meaning, I had to define the grid to cover the bottom half of the displayed picture in order to actually detect at the top half of the picture. See the attached screenshot. This is how I had to set the motion detect grid to AVOID detecting my dog walking on the floor at the bottom of the picture.motiondetect.jpg
@BobThanks for the quick reply, but you are mistaken.See my images below. When the template is placed on a surface with the printed side facing you, the hole for the wire is located at approximately 108 degrees from top-dead-center (about 3:30 if the template were a clock face). When the camera is placed on top of the template, the wire is actually located at approximately 72 degrees from top-dead-center (about 2:30 if the template were a clock face). If you flip the template so the printed side is facing the mounting surface and rotate the template 180 degrees, then the hole for the wire will match the actual location of the wire on the camera. But your instructions (/faq/mount-reolink-ip-camera-rlc-422/) show the printed side facing the installer. So please either correct your instructions or correct your template. Also, to say the diameter of the circle on the template "doesn't matter" is very short-sighted. Before I ever took the camera outside to the mounting location, I took the printed template cut down to the diameter of the printed circle. Later I realized my initial review for placement using the template was "off" because the diameter of the printed circle did not match the actual diameter of the camera.rlc-422-template-1.jpegrlc-422-template-2.jpegrlc-422-template-3.jpeg
The paper template for mounting is not correct. If you place the template on a surface with the printed side facing you and mark the 4 mounting holes AND mark the hole for the wire, the hole for the wire will NOT align with the actual wire on the camera. Also, the diameter of the outer most printed circle on the template does NOT match the diameter of the actual camera base. The actual camera base diameter is approximately 6mm bigger.
After the success of the new firmware on the RLC-411WS and C1 Pro, I decided to buy a RLC-422W.After updating the firmware on the RLC-422W it can also connect and stream using 4G/LTE.
Hi Andy,After updating the firmware, I found it was best to delete the existing camera from the mobile app and add it again like it was a new camera.Regards,Tom
clarification ... the new firmware seems to be working fine with version 4.4.1.3
Update: I installed the beta firmware on my RLC-411WS today and it fixed the connection and streaming issues just like the C1-Pro. And both cameras with the new firmware seem to also work fine with version 4.4.1 of the iPhone app (released a couple days ago). Thanks again to Reolink for working until they had a fix.
Notes for others about the beta firmware:1. It is not yet compatible with the desktop/PC client software.
Correction: It is not yet compatible with the desktop/PC client software for REMOTE access (it works fine if the desktop and camera are on the same local network).
I barely found the link to this community at the bottom of reolink.com home page.I strongly suggest you put a link to this community in the Support item at the TOP of the home page.
Thanks Bob. I contacted support and received the instructions for testing the beta firmware.I updated my C1 Pro to the new firmware.Success!Using the new firmware and test app, my iPhone X now connects quickly and consistently using 3G/4G/LTE.In addition, I am able to stream at much higher rates using 3G/4G/LTE than was previously possible.Notes for others about the beta firmware:1. It is not yet compatible with the desktop/PC client software.2. It breaks the 3G/4G/LTE connection in the current iPhone app (you must use the test app).I did not update my RLC-411WS because I was not willing to lose access with the PC client.I hope Reolink can quickly finish up testing and get this new firmware out of beta and working with the PC client.
Seems like you are talking about using the smartphone app (not the client software).Yes. Lots of us are having the same/similar issue.https://reolink.com/topic/connection-failed-3g4g/
