from the question earlier: https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000771583-Can-I-Connect-a-Keyboard-to-NVRThough we can use the software keyboard, it's terribly slow. Please add keyboard support.
Seems like a simple enough possibility. I also would like to be able to use a keyboard.
Hey Reolink, it's 2023, where's keyboard support?
Yes, please add support for a physical keyboard. If you want to enforce security at the NVR, including session timeout, etc., it is MUCH more useful to be able to type it rather than punch it in over a keyboard.
Just got my Reolink NVR and really surprised that it does not have basic keyboard support. Agree with the fact that when you need to put in password to open screen it's very annoying using the virtual keyboard everytime. We are not asking for a lot are we? How difficult can it be to implement basic keyboard support in 2023?
Why having so many USB ports on the RLN36 while you can not even connect a keyboard? Please update the firmware to support it. It is so slow and annoying to have to type with a mouse...
Indeed. Bought a media keyboard (keyboard + trackpad) for use on this device but the keyboard part doesnt respond. Please add keyboard support. Seems kinda basic...
2024, unbelievably ridiculous. probably will buy a LTS NVR. going there now to find a keyboard NVR. still can return reolink NVR....Tech Fac
Ditto to all others who have suggested that so much time has elapsed and STILL NO KEYBOARD SUPPORT. Do you need programming assistance? I'm sure the community as a whole could have already added that support in less that a day if your system was open source (since obviously your company and developers apparently don't have the requisite skill to implement such a "difficult" change to the firmware. This is a very basic human interface device that has been around since the beginning of modern time; just add the support and keep your customers happy, otherwise we will move on to another solution that has the features we have requested en masse. As others have stated, 3-USB ports, one of which appears to be USB 3 for an NVR that the only known input output device that works is a mouse. Your documentation provided to your customers is sparse and not really "real world". Who in today's world buys a standalone switch for cameras when a single 48-port Cisco C3850 POE switch can power them all, and keep them isolated in their own VLAN without a gateway to ensure that isolation. I was told before I purchased that the device would support link aggregation for the 4-ports used for video cameras. However, no documentation has been provided to me (I put a ticket in to request said documentation and was referred to your "Introduction to Reolink RLN36" FAQ Page) on how to set this up.Was that just a pre-sale outright misleading statement given to me on purpose to convince me to buy? And yes I am ranting as these issues have been requested by others and you choose to ignore your customers requests. At least respond and tell them that your company is too lazy to implement.Signed, Retired Senior Network Engineer
I also just bought a Reolink NVR and want to use a USB Keyboard. Typing the password over and over when adding cameras is stupid.
This will never be more than a consumer novelty without keyboard support. No keyboard just creates one more hurdle to manage the device.
