Good day,
I am getting crazy with my wifi video doorbell. The doorbell keeps disconnecting from my network when connected to wifi or to lan. Doesn't make any difference.
It was in the first place configured and connected only to wifi. Then i found out the disconnections. What could be the problem? Maybe the distance to one of the three (wired)satellites in my Netgear Orbi wifi Network. So i disconnect one of them and put it a couple of centimeters from the doorbell. Satellite is still wired. The doorbell keeps disconnecting from the network. On the back of the satellites there are 4 ethernet ports so the idea was to connect the doorbell directly to one of the the ethernet ports of the satellite instead of wiifi. So said, so done. The doorbell keeps disconnecting from the network. It's so crazy that i can hardly believe it. 1.5 Meters above the doorbell there is a Reolink E1 Outdoor cam connected to the same Orbi Mesh system. It never disconnects from the network while his AP which is further away then the couple of cm. as the doorbell does.
IMHO i have done everything i could to get this solved but i am out of options. I made a ticket at Reolink support and the send me a new one. Unfortunately it didn't helped. It is not a disconnect in a hour or so but sometimes several times in a minute. It drives me nuts.
Maybe there is someone here with a good tip
Thanks in advance

@user_620089981972582_620089981972582 Check whether the satellites go out of synch. Is it possible to have distinct SSID for 2.4G and 5G? If yes then connect the doorbell to the 2.4G band. If you have the preference WIFI band then set it to 2.4G and restart cam.

Because i suspect wifi i connect the doorbell directly to an ethernet port on the (wired) Orbi Accesspoint. Wired means in my case that all the AP's are wired
(daisy chain topology)
So the wifi is disabled on the doorbell. The idea was that with a direct LAN connection it always will work. Unfortunately not.

@user_620089981972582_620089981972582 I am sure you have, but I will ask... did you make sure to turn ON the daisy chain setting?

@user_620089981972582_620089981972582 while not inconceivable, it is not likely that you received two bad doorbells. Can you elaborate it disconnects from your network? How exactly are you being notified/determining this? Have you check the Netgear forums to see if there is known firmware issue with Orbi? If feasible, can you temporality connect the doorbell directly to your main router?

@user_620089981972582_620089981972582 Would you be able to get the WIFI doorbell inside and connect it to the router? Use both WIFI and eth connectivity. In this way we eliminate the access point.

@joseph_1979
It isn't necessary to dismount the doorbell. The networkcable connected to the doorbell has a female connector near the AP inside the house.
On that i can make a connection straight to the router or a switch connected to the router.
Not at home now so do that tomorrow. Thanks so far. I will let you no the result -
@chopstix
I have a live stream open on my pc when i am working so i can see how many times in a couple of minutes the doorbell disconnects.
Tomorrow i will reconnect the doorbell straight to the router or a switch connected to the router
Thanks -

@joseph_1979
The AP near the doorbell is the only AP which is connected by WiFi to the Backhaul. But the connection of this AP has the status "Good" to the nearest wired AP. So you should say that this is good. Unfortnunately not because as i told i have drops on both Wifi and direct LAN.
When i connect the doorbell directly to the router or one of the three wired AP's the connection stays up. So in this case there are no drops.
So the conclusion is that although there is nothing wrong with the AP (Status is good) which is 20 cm. close to the doorbell there are many drops in a short time and the only difference is that this AP is wireless connected to the backhaul. Problem is that i cannot make this AP part of the wired backhaul. -
@user_620089981972582_620089981972582 I was 100% sure it was the problem on your WIFI network. So the entity serving your doorbell is not access point but rather a WIFI repeater. Normally we refer to access point if and only if it is connected to the router via ethernet. So you have a repeater connected to an access point. If you are unable to have a cable to the doorbell or to this WIFI repeater (which can be converted to Access Point) then I suggest you to get a long range WIFI repeater such as the TP link RE650V2. I have this WIFI repeater and have no issue with it. This is at the back of my house catering for the garden and I cannot wired it to the central router.
A side note. I wish Reolink add high gain antenna to their WIFI cameras. Most of my cams are WIFI as I hate cables being cleated or passed through plastic trunking. I don't want to do any trenches in the walls. -
@joseph_1979 Thanks. I understand what you are telling. But??? Could this be a reason why the connection drops? The connect status of the AP which actually is a repeater is okay "Good" in the Netgear software

@user_620089981972582_620089981972582 Netgear's "Good" might work well for UDP services but not so much for TCP services. With streaming audio/video (UDP), small connection drops might not even been noticed due to buffering. If I am not mistaken @joseph_1979 mentioned in another post that Reolink uses TCP, which can experience more noticeable interruptions if the data stream is weak.
