Is everyone else's NVR fan really loud?
Just fitted one for a customer and it was louder than I expected.. once in an enclosure it quietened down a bit.. I think they are loud by nature..
Just installed mine finally and yes the fan is loud, much loader than I expected it to be
Hi Phil,Please contact our support for suggestions and we will help look into the case. Thanks!
Hi Bob, how do I do that, is it just a case of emailing?
Hi Phil,Our support team are ready to provide some suggestions for you.
The fan is loud, much than I expected
Hey Bob,Can you list some of your suggestions here. Thanks
* check and adjust the screw, tighten the fan to avoid them stuck or "touched" by the NVR case.* remove the cover case of the NVR can reduce much the noise.* if possible, you may also put the NVR elsewhere.
Bob,By removing the cover, will the unit still cool? I figured the fan would blow cold air over the unit.
It will.
I have the same noise issue. I don't want to leave it with no cover and difficult to place in a different spot. I am thinking replacing with a quieter fan could resolve it like I have read in other forums for other competitor NVRs. But unlike those forums, it seems no one ask this yet for Reolink NVRs. Can anyone advise me a compatible fan? Or at least confirm my understanding of the dimensions I need by noting the dimensions (and voltage and etc)
Dear leslaundryanddc,If this info is of any interest to you, the dimensions of the fan we use:40*40*40(mm), DC12V, Power:0.43W.
My NVR is very quiet, but I use an external POE switch. I wonder if the increased power draw of the POE causes the fan to work harder and make more noise?

"40*40*40(mm), DC12V, Power:0.43W"shouldn't this be 40x40x10 mm? I've also noticed disappointingly loud fan noise after upgrading from a 8ch to a 16ch system, and I'm looking at options for reducing the fan noise.I'm actually wondering whether the RLN16-410 can be run with the fan disconnected? The reason I'm wondering is because I was previously running a RLN8-410, which had 8 cameras connected and was recording 24/7 to the internal HDD and it had no issues with overheating. The RLN16-410 has the same logic board layout, I'm only recording to 8 cameras, and I only have one internal HDD. As such, the setup is essentially the same as the 8ch setup and yet the 16ch setup has a noisey little fan. Does anybody know of any mods for reducing the fan noise? I'm not keen to run the NVR with the cover removed (although that does actually reduce the noise as the cover seems to amplify the fan noise). The screws holding the fan are tight. I'm tempted to purchase a Noctua 40x40x10mm fan to see how that goes, but I'm not real impressed with having to spend an another $40 for a better quality fan for what was already a AUD$1300 security system.
The function of the fan inside of the Reolink NVR system is heat dissipation. The temporary solutions to reduce the noise:* Check and adjust the screws, tighten the fan.* Remove the cover case of the NVR to test.* If possible, you may also put the NVR elsewhere.
