I have a RLC-520a with a 256GB Class10 U3 micros SD card installed. After using this for about a month I have noticed several times the SD card becomes corrupt and must be reformated (see screenshot).

I suspect this occurs when the camera is powered off and on. I don't do this, but I also don't know for sure if the camera stays running 24/7 (I know someone else posted requesting a log of the last boot time).

Currently I have my camera set to record on detection only.

The issue can be resolved by reformatting the SD card in the camera, but this of course loses all the previous data and is frustrating as I never know it's happened until I need to see something that is not longer available.

@Reolink, is it know, root cause, fix available?

After formatting, everything working normally (until next time it gets corrupted...)

@tomcrean Can you try to change another SD card? It may be related to the SD card. When the SD card needs to be formatted, you can also try to reboot your camera to see if it can be recovered. If it can't help, you can try to submit a request here, Submit a request – Reolink Support. Our tech will help you have a further check.

@reolink-fiona with other SD cards I have not had this issue. But this one should still be within the specification?

I too am having periodic video file corruption problems. I have authentic brand new 256GB Sandisk Class 10 HC SD cards. I have reported details to RL including copies of the last good recording and the corrupt recording that occurred only minutes later. After the first corruption all subsequent recordings are also corrupted. Reformatting is the only fix. I think they have a file open/close problem and furthermore that their error recovery procedures could be improved. Maybe they could be checking for corruption in the most recently recorded file and if corruption is found take some corrective action. The whole point of supporting 256 GB cards is to create a large video archive and having to reformat long before you fill up the card kind of defeats the purpose, no?

Counterfeit sd cards are very common these days, especially for Sandisk. You can't tell from the retail package. The only way to tell is to run the speed test for both read and write which I do the with a new sd card. Recently, I bought a Sandisk Endurance card from a reputable vendor and the card didn't pass the write test and had to send it back for refund. I have a few Samsung Endurance cards running in my security cameras as well as my Tesla dashcam without issues so far. One security camera will fill up my 128GB Samsung card and overwrite the oldest files as expected. The camera is also set to reboot weekly.

@user_588567793635436_588567793635436 I would rather say that this is mostly attributed to the medium as otherwise there are lots of complaints. I had a similar issue and since I replaced it with a Samsung evo plus I had no further issues. As for the file management I would say that Reolink has to improve the file handling as sometimes just after the recorded video has ended the file handle is not released properly and so the application fails to read the file.
