      Got several of reolinks cameras and I miss widgets for iOS. Before I had cameras from tp-link and had a great widget for iOS.

      Is this something anybody else would like to have?

        Can you describe this widget more?

        what would this widget show? A small screen or just a list of alerts? …

        maybe just a shortcut? Tell me more plz.

            I think probably a small screen. Kind of like picture to picture where small video screen appears on top of whatever the application you are running. That way, you can monitor your camera while running other applications like mail, browser, etc. It shouldn't be limited to iOS however. Mac client should support that as well.

              @jedi2020_32727772450952 We have Picture in Picture function for Android APP now. But the IOS can't realize this feature with our device now. We will still keep following this feature.

                What about Mac Client? QuickTime player on Mac is alreday doing that.

                    Do you have Intel or M1? In the latter case, see my post in this section. It's not a widget, but you can get a small window anyway (the one in my screenshot is not resized), and it's much faster.

                    Maybe Reolink doesn't realize that the source code for a macOS new widget or app is already there!
                    There is no need to re-design anything or re-invent the wheel.

                      I have M1 Macbook Air. Mobile app is no substitute for Mac Client app. I have iphone and iPad as well but running mobile app on Mac doesn't utilize the big screen that Mac provides. This is especially important when you have a Duo camera that can provide a panoramic view of large area. If you have more than 1 camera like I do, viewing multiple cameras on Mac Client is much better. I only use mobile app on my iPhone when I am on the go.

                      Running mobile app on iPad is not the same as picture in picture. Picture in picture allows the video window to float in foreground, so you can monitor the camera while performing daily tasks like reading email, safari browsing, etc.

                        @jedi2020_32727772450952 That's all true.

                        However, the macOS app must always be translated on-the-fly, instruction-by-instruction, from Intel to M1-ARM machine code. No matter how fast Rosetta2 can be, this intermediate layer is a bottleneck. I have been constantly monitoring CPU&memory usage of both apps, and the iPad version is much more responsive while requiring about half resources.

                        If Reolink doesn't release an M1 version for macOS — which, like I said, wouldn't be difficult because they could recycle most source code from iOS/PadOS — I guess I will be using both apps, taking the best of each app and/or architecture as needed.

                          Correct. Converting Intel version to Universal version which can run on M1 without translator shouldn't be difficult. I have already submitted the request but who knows when will happen. Reolink needs to understand that Apple no longer makes Mac with Intel processor so they ought to make a move soon.

                          A widgets function can be both have thumb picture and also have toogles for the cameras.

                            Any new news on have a Widget for IOS?

                            I use to have Nest which had it. When a notification appeared on the Lock Screen you could press and hold the widget and the motion, person etc. would preview.
