Hello, here is my review of the Reolink TrackMix PoE camera:

      Apparence :

      undefined

Its size makes the camera rather discreet compared to other models.

      undefined

      undefined

The fixing of the camera is however made of plastic whereas on the RLC-823A it was made of aluminum, which is less qualitative.

      undefined

      Two-way audio:

Its two-way audio allows you to listen and speak to anyone in range of the camera, however there may be a small lag if you are outside your home network.

      Alarm :

The camera has an alarm that activates automatically upon detection or you can activate it manually if you wish. This is not too strong but still allows to warn the close neighborhood especially at night.

      Infrared Night Vision:

The TrackMix has two infrared LEDs that allow it to see up to more or less 15m at night.

      undefined

      Spotlights :

The camera has two spotlights which allows it a color night vision at more or less 15m.

      undefined

      Reolink App (Android):

You have the choice to see the objectives separately or to see them at the same time.

      undefined

      undefined

      Alert, FTP, Email:

You can configure the camera to send you a notification from the application and/or by email. You can also configure FTP to save videos to a remote server.

      The dual objectives:

The strong point of the TrackMix is its two lenses, one lens for the wide angle and a second for the zoom. The double lens is a big plus because it allows you to have an overview in addition to a zoomed view of what the camera has detected.

      AI detection:

The camera allows, thanks to its AI, to detect any vehicles, people or animals that enter its field of vision and to alert the owner as well as to record the detection sequence.

      undefined

      Tracking method:

You can configure camera tracking according to your preference.

Digital Traking: The camera remains fixed, only the automatic zoom works
Digital Traking First: The camera will track and zoom to the target at the same time
PanTilt Tracking First: The camera zooms and tracks the target automatically

      Conclusion :

The TrackMix shows its full potential with silent automatic tracking and zooming which allows true tracking of the target over a very large area. However, the camera will be limited at night to a distance of more or less 15m.

For me the TrackMix is one of the best cameras from Reolink in terms of tracking and automatic zoom on the market, and I can only recommend it to you.

Thanks for the great review and sharing your videos and pictures. Very helpful to see actual real life usage of the duel view. Could you make a night time duel view? I mainly use my cameras for nighttime critters that enter my yard and would like to see a nighttime video of a dual zoom with regular view.

Do you know what is meant by "6X hybrid zoom". Not sure what that means, is it a mixture of optical and digital zoom capabilities?

Hello, I uploaded a video of my dog's detection with only night vision, and no sorry i don't know what he calls hybrid zoom.

                    @philippe

Your night time video was awesome, Thanks! I love the way tracking follows your dog and the smaller view has the whole view. Looks like it will be a nice camera.

It looks like you have pretty good lighting for your back yard. One of the problems I have with cameras and night time videos are smearing and ghosting of moving objects and also noise in the video where there is poor lightning. I wonder if your camera would have the same problems if all of your backyard lighting was turned off and the camera was only using its infra red.

Again, I appreciate your making the video.

                    Thanks!
                    John

@john_350143387672724 I wrote a review of it as well over on Reddit, and I've got several night video examples: https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/vngiux/trackmix_poe_test_unit_review/

“Mblaser”, thanks for the link to your great Reddit review. Your videos and details were awesome. Your review will definitely be use on any decision I make on buying one of these new cameras. Link is bookmarked!

Thanks for your “6x hybrid zoom” explanation and the specifications for the two lenses.

Here are what I was given for the specs of each lens:
                        Wide angle: 3840x2160 (8MP) @ 25fps. f=2,8mm, F=1.6 Angle H 104°V 60°
                        Telephoto: 1920x1080 (2MP) @ 20fps. f=8mm, F=1.6 Angle H 38°V 21°

Nice to see the telephoto at 20 fps, but I’m guessing it drops down into the 10-12 fps. under low light conditions like the other Reolink cameras. Ghosting/smearing of moving object is a problem with Reolink cameras and agree, that Reolink should bring back the old ghosting/smearing image controls. They’ve been including spotlights on the newer cameras and forget about the people who want to track animals that enter their yards and can’t use those lights in fear of spooking the critters.

I liked your deer and squirrel videos, very helpful because I use my cameras mainly to capture the night time critters.

Thanks for the different “Tracking method” videos! That’s the first I've heard about about those options!

The telephoto auto tracking is far better than I expected and is quick to focus and doesn’t seem to blur (unlike my RLC-R823a camera). Although the telephoto zoom doesn’t seem as tight during nigh time to me.

Looks like it will be a great camera and hope Reolink keeps refining the firmware to make it even better before it hits the public for purchase.

Great review, very informative and helpful!
                        John

It does drop down to 12fps at night... for now. I'm not sure if you're aware, but there's new firmware for a lot of their cams that gives you the option for "fixed FPS" at night, so that it doesn't drop the FPS at night. I actually did a comparison of that with my 820A here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/u7vyrq/new_firmware_v310951956_onvif_iframe_and_more/

Thanks. I'm aware of the new firmware with the "Fixed Frame Rate" option and use it on my RLC-810a and RLC-823a cameras. I get similar results to yours.

It does helps somewhat, but I prefer the anti-smearing options like what I have on my RLC-511w camera. But the RLC-511w has a 3D-DNR cut filter which helps with the low light conditions where my other cameras don't have it.

Can you download the wide angle and telephoto views separately as independent videos or are they always combine together into one video? So, I’m asking if there are different download options.

                            1. Just the wide angle view
                            2. Just the telephoto view
                            3. Wide angle & Telephoto view combine.

@john_350143387672724 In the APP, it can show both views or separate views. It can only download the two separate views (wide lens and telephoto lens's).

Its silent automatic tracking and zoom enable continuous focus on the target even over very large areas. However, nighttime performance is constrained - the TrackMix is limited to a maximum viewing distance of approximately 15 meters in low light.
                                    In summary:
TrackMix excels at daytime tracking across long distances
Automatic silent tracking and zoom keep target in frame
But low light hampers its nighttime tracking range
Max viewing distance is about 15 meters in dark conditions
=>> I find TrackMix quite suitable for my family.

As of 12/1/22, the mobile app and Windows desktop software no longer permit access to the secondary stream when the device is connected to an NVR. They can be viewed locally on the NVR or remotely via a browser, however the latter does not appear to support PIP. When you switch the "track" stream, the date and time are reset, thus you have to re-search for the same video on the "track" stream after seeing the wide angle to figure out what you want to view the alternate surveillance stream on. Exceptionally awkward.

                                      Hello Philippe,

                                      Thanks for the review !

In "alarm" mode, the camera can also light on the white led ? ( Like the 823A ?).

                                      Have a nice day 🙂

Hello, yes it is possible. And I find the TrackMix much better than the RLC-823A

Just got an email from support. As of 12/1/22 you cannot view the alternate stream via the app or the windows program when it is hooked up to an NVR. You can view them directly at the NVR itself, or through a browser connected to the NVR, but from what I see you can't see PIP in the browser. Also, you're viewing the wide angle to figure out what you want to view the alternate surveillance stream on and then you switch the "track" stream and it resets date, etc. so you have to go searching for the same video on the "track" stream again. VERY cumbersome.

They say they are working on the software, but currently this seems like a major shortcoming. At least it is recording the alternate stream, just you gotta go on a fishing expedition twice to find what you want.

Also detection logic on the PTZ's needs a lot of work when you have any type of road with traffic that you want to ignore. We have a warehouse on a busy highway and we set up a monitor point that puts the road at the top of the monitor position and we ignore any zones at hte top of the image where the road is. The problem is it detects movement and pans to that (sometimes legit and sometimes not) and now that it's off it's monitor position, there's basically no ignore zone or the ignore zone is treated as if it's in it's monitor position, which leads to a lot of weird recordings and, as i said, on a busy road, it detects movement for the next hour until there's 20 seconds or whatever the return time is of dead time on the highway.

Still trying to find the right settings and working with support, but 823A and now this camera, although very cool cameras, end up not being all that useful and functional because of weird detection and ignore logic.
