RLC-822A camera placement

I have looking at a number of different camera options but always seem to come back to the 822A but where I would like to place them is close to a outdoor light and I am wondering how bad the light would affect the night mode of the camera. In case its hard to tell I would like to place it on the post, it would make the install easy. If not that then right in the middle above the white blacked out part but I have a feeling the wife might not go for that.

@bearhug To answer your question about how the light will impact it, the light will make the picture change to color at night if it's bright enough which I believe it is. Not really a worry, it's actually a better view at night.

I found turning on the IR at night causes a messy and distorted picture. You may find the picture looks a lot better with the IR off.

I think either place would work. Looks like the lights affect part of the view either place. If you have a long enough ethernet cable you could temporarily run it outside through the front door or garage door, use ladder to hold the cam at both places so you can see what the view would look like. Hold cam in one hand, your cell phone in other, or have someone help. I've done this a couple times. Or go ahead and install the cam bracket in both places with a temporary cable, then decide.

Thanks people.... I have a cable run all set up, that will be the easy part for me.... get a good angle with a good picture day or night is more of the issue.

@bearhug I have an 822A installed about a foot above a light (the light isn't extremely bright) that has no effect on the camera. In fact, that light and another on the other side end of that side of the house are not bright enough to trigger the 822 to turn off its IR. And I think if the light was any brighter, it would just trigger night color.

I also have an 842A immediately below a pair of bright flood lights that provide color night footage to the 842.

So depending on the brightness/wattage of your light, it might not be an issue. If you can change the bulbs in that light fixture, you can always swap in a bulb with a lower wattage if the current bulb interferes with the camera.

@bearhug It shouldn't have any impact other than the IR will not lick in as there will be adequate light. Just a suggestion. How about having the Duo 2 at the centre of the garage which would give a FOV of 170 degrees?
