We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. If you want to access the camera via the web browser, you can consider our WiFi cameras or PoE cameras: https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000501083-Which-Cameras-NVRs-can-be-accessed-via-web-browser?source=search

Too bad Reolink does not provide any kind of Linux support. If at least an API would be available, I am pretty sure open source software developers will quickly provide useful tools.

Sorry that the battery-powered cameras can only work with the Reolink software because of the hardware limitation. All Reolink battery powered cameras don't support ONVIF protocol, RTSP stream, and related communication protocols that third party software requires.

I would also like to vote for a Linux supported client. I think companies like this need to be aware of the rise in the use of the Linux desktop and should be including the Linux operating system automatically alongside other operating systems.
Until Reolink comes out with a Linux client, I would be interested to know if anyone has been able to get the Windows client working under Wine.

                Hello Reolink.

There are very many users who are interested in a Linux client.
In the topic already since the year 2016.
Unfortunately, nothing has happened so far.

The assumption is that they do not want to support Linux.

                Very Very pity.

... for me the subject is through. In the meantime I have disposed of all Reolink systems and replaced them with better and, above all, cheaper systems, which also do not depend on a client and work natively under all operating systems ...
Some manufacturers understand their business, some just don't ...

I think it only appropriate, since Reolink refuses to support Linux, that you advertise and let us know what solution you implemented.

@michael-buchholz_166254801641697 Could you share the brand? I am thinking of dropping Reolink system too because they don't offer Linux application/client

Ohhh shit ... I was telling bullshit ...

ReoLink is what I currently prefer to use. I got confused because I used FosCam before (more expensive, plugin for browser necessary, NO LINUX, hard to get the Stream out, chrashes very often...) and exactly the same linux- thread is running there.
So, without paying attention to it, I just answered between the door and the hinge (German saying that you can do something very quickly on the side), without realizing that I am in the "wrong" forum ...

                          Sorry guys ... My mistake!
I actually only use ReoLink and use "MotionEye" (Debian, OpenMediaVault) for recording under Linux

I have bought 10 Reolink cameras because I have 3 store house and I plan to use @work with more from 20 cameras. All my laptops, PC etc are linux, I have only one Windows client in VMWare - but your software doesn't work correct under VMWare - so *PLEASE* I am begging for Linux Client

I just placed my order for three RLC-520s and started to browse this forum. It sure was a pleasant surprise to read you're working on Linux support too. Wish you guys good luck with that!

One can hope, but don't hold your breath or purchase cameras based on the expectation of a Linux Client any time soon.
There is always a chance that the current Client is based on software that has a Linux development platform. However, version 8.0.5 was out a YEAR ago (August, 2020). Up to version 8.3.1 now and no Linux client.

I'd like to throw my request in for a Linux client. If not a traditional Linux client, I'd like a dedicated option for using a Raspberry Pi for providing a regular view of cameras - even if limited options outside of viewing the cameras on the NVR were available. This would permit basic viewing functions to be used with a Pi without the overhead of the full client. Just an idea...

I have the latest Windows client (8.3.2) working in Wine staging 6.19. I was not able to get it working with other versions of Wine and it only works with the staging build. 6.19 is the latest release so hopefully that means it will continue to work going forward. Almost everything is working. I can configure my NVR and cameras, view the cameras, and watch playback. The only thing that doesn't work is the mute button and volume slider. If I have a camera selected that has audio enabled I hear the audio at full volume no matter what the volume slider setting is. Otherwise there's no issues. Installing the staging build of wine will depend on which Linux distribution you are using.

I'm not sure why it is so difficult for them to release a native Linux client. The client is Electron based. At least it's working and I don't have to use the browser which can't display the cameras in clear mode.

                                          +1 for the Linux client.
Nice to know someone was able to run the windows version of the Electron client under Wine; I tried with v5.0.3 (only available version in the official Debian repository) without success: all I could see was a full black window. And for battery powered cameras there is no alternative at all.

Here's another request for a Linux client of some sort. Linux users are a smart bunch, so simply providing an API document would be more than enough to allow us to get a solution made.

                                              Cheers

I keep checking back to see if there's a Linux client yet as that is what is holding me back on purchasing cameras to replace my o whole system.

                                                Bummer it hasn't happened yet.
