Just to clarify what I meant. Not the actual replay window (which as you said can be stretched out to any size you wish)But the floating timeline window you can pull up.On a large, high resolution screen, this small floating timeline window, you can't stretch to make bigger and can be quite small to operate. It would be lovely if this floating timeline window could also be stretched to appear larger and then easier to operate.Thanks.
I would like to STRONGLY suggest a change for the new Beta windows client.with regards to the playback area.-On a large, high resolution monitor, this playback window is too small and cannot be resized. It would be great if this playback floating window could be stretched and re-sized to make it easier to use.-Thank you.
Recently the RLC-510A(5MP)and RLC-810A(8MP)support the time-lapse feature.
Are they available to buy yet? Will there be a Dome version to follow of the 810A ?
Excellent news.I was worried such a feature may have been only released on future camera models, so very happy to hear other camera's will get this very useful feature. Thanks
Thanks for the advice. It's not a problem I was just wondering how it would work
Thank you.I saw the camera was not in stock, and a new model, but I was not aware it had not actually been launched yet.I will ask a question, but I understand you may not be allowed to answer:"Do you think there will be a Dome version of this camera to follow"?-Will admit I'm surprised the Timelapse is related to the camera, as timelapse is of course a recording, and recording is what the NVR did, hence my confusion.-I look forward to the release and more information becoming available.Might you have a rough idea how long it might be before the actual release?
Couple of questions:I have a new 8 channel Reolink NVR. Meaning of course it has 8 Ethernet ports on the rear of the unit for 8 wired POE camera's.I see you can buy the E1 Zoom camera, which is WiFi only and it says you can connect it to the Reolink NVR.So how does that work then? The NVR records data over the WiFi from the E1 camera?Secondly....Does this mean you could have more than 8 cameras? For example 8 POE camera's plugged into the rear of the NVR and another 1 or 2 WiFi camera's also connected to the NVR without any cables?
I see the advert for the "Time Lapse – See the Day in a Minute" feature on the product page of the RLC-810A.--My question is, is this feature special and specific to this new camera, and something related to what's build into this new model. Or is this some new feature of perhaps some new Reolink NVR software for all camera's?-I will admit, I would have thought a timelapse would have been created by the footage in the NVR and not by the camera itself, but I'm only guessing.-Can we have some information on this new timelapse feature please? Thank you.
Very interesting. Can anyone state all the differences between the RLC-810A and the B800 model?I will admit I don't understand what the camera does against what the NVR does.I would have thought the NVR was the device doing the detecting, but I must be wrong.Should I also presume there will be a Dome version of the new 810A with the same better motion detection?
Mine are just standard Turrets.Having a read it says insects like the IR light, and therefore spiders built webs there. Not sure I buy that argument totally as spiders like like to build webs in areas under the eves of the house anyway.I saw there are bus sprays you can buy to spray the brickwork and the outside of your camera body (not on the lens)not sure I fancy doing that.Apparently peppermint oil is supposed to work, so that sounds a bit better.Right now I'm removing any I find and blocking any little hidey holes they may take a fancy to!
Thanks "timbercreek"I mean I thought it would be genuine, but the UI looked different, hence I was guessing it's an older version.I would have thought Reolink would of "had a word" with Amazon if it was not official, but thought I'd check here for some official reply just in case -Thanks again for your time checking this out
Cynthia.Thank you for the suggestions and download links. All of the Amazon Fire tablets, which are just Android tablets with Amazons User Interface on them can officially only download apps from the Amazon Store. It's not super important for me, as I have the Reolink client on all my other devices, I was just going to put it onto my Fire Tablet also, but as I say wanted to check it was an official Reolink app first (I have no reason to think it's not offical) but thought someone at Reolink may be able to confirm, as you can see in my photo's, the apps last update is April 2020.It's not urgent or really important.Perhaps someone from Reolink dev side, at some point in the future could confirm if it's official? Thanks
Hopefully will get an answer tomorrow, even Reolink need a weekend to relax I'm wondering if it looks different as it's an older version to the one on the Google Play Store.-Honestly I don't understand why almost all apps are not on the Amazon store.Fire tablets are Android tablets, and there are millions and millions of Amazon Fire Tablet users out there.Tens of millions probably and I don't know why anyone who makes an Android app would not put it on the Amazon store.-There must be some reason so many devs don't to that.Perhaps it's Amazons fault and they block too many?Be interesting to know why.
Thanks for the reply, that's really interesting.Just to clarify, I did install the Google keyboard as I'm used to that on my Google Pixel Phone. And I did try entering my password on both the Samsung default and the Google keyboard at least 4 times on each of them. And I know I picked the correct (or visually what I thought was correct) characters each time.-There are some non alphanumeric characters in my password. And I've entered it correctly without any issues on my NVR, Two Android phones and Two windows PC's.-You must be right. There must be one of the characters I used that is represented incorrectly on the Samsung tablet, even with the Google keyboard. As I said, when I finally let lastpass fill this in for me, it worked fine.-I'm tempted to perhaps type this in again on my Samsung and email it to myself, then look at it on my PC and see if I can find the character which looks right but it wrong!-I'm not mad.... Honestly! lol
Having had lower quality security cameras in the past of the Bullet type I had the issue of spiders which seemed to delight in making their homes around the camera's which meant you often saw a strand of web moving across the front, which, during the night sent the camera crazy as it kept thinking this was movement.-Upon reading more about security camera's I learned that Spiders love Bullet camera's, and to avoid this issue, you should change to Turret models.-So when selecting my Reolink 4K system I therefore decided upon the D800 turret model and not the 4K Bullet version.-However it seems the spiders around here did not get the message that they are not supposed to be interested in these, and after just 1 week I've had to remove at least 1 spider (with web) away from each of my 4 camera's.-So was what everyone had said simply not true and spiders are just as interested in turrets as they are bullets? And is there any way (chemical?) I can put near a camera to put the spiders off deciding it's a nice place to be?
Thought I should update this:Just installed the beta software on my faster PC and it's totally fine on that one.On my older PC it struggles playing back at the full clear quality and is stuttery. If I lower the quality then it's smooth.-So, it just seems, for some reason? (perhaps as the video is being scaled to any size?) it takes more computing power to display the feed?-It's a new app and this PC is a few years old, so I can accept this. Can't expect new apps to always run person on older systems.-Of course there is always a chance things change from beta to final release of course
^ No need to be sorry myself.I'm my fault for not being able to explain myself clearly enough. There is always one work-around for the time being.Buy a Google Nest Hello (even if you don't wish to use it's doorbell functions)It could cover the area you wish to look at, and you could use that to quick scan for anything that's happened and then go look on the Reolink for the high quality footage -I think every single person must have the same problem.Given how (unfortunately due to the lack of a good AI) bad motion detection is (I don't need to be alerted every time a tree moves or a moth flys past!)We all need a nice easy, simple method of looking through many hours of alerts/footage to quickly see if anything happened.-What I find myself doing is ignoring most alerts as 99% of them will be of something that should not really be an alert.
Hi,It's always hard to describe something, which is instantly understandable when you see/use it in person -If I continue to use the Google/Nest app as my example as that's what inspired me to want the same/similar from Reolink. You go to one of the two playback areas, and you place your finger on the screen underneath the current view and move your finger (there is then a few seconds delay. I guess as their servers then know what you are wanting to do, to they may be assembling the time-lapse footage for you) Once this has happened, you move your finger up and down the entire height of your phone screen, and as you move your finger, at the same speed you are moving your finger, the video moves forwards/backwards directly under your control. You move your finger fast, clouds zoom across the sky, you move it very slow, as slow and as tiny a movement as possible, then you might see a car, jump position moving along as it appears to be one frame every 10 seconds ish (am guessing)It's amazing and feels so free to be able to move your finger at any speed and have the playback move forwards/backwards at the same time.-If I do this, I may see a few flashes of someone coming to my front door. I can then go to the main event playback and watch the full footage of the event.-I can't yet find a video on the internet of someone demonstrating this. If I do I will find it.But it's important to have fine manual control. As you rightly said, if it was simply a fixed speed 20fps playback you'd miss too much.Under finger control you have pretty much zero to way faster than reality playback speed.
I have an Amazon Fire tablet which I use from time to time.As we know the "official way" to get apps on a Fire Table is via the Amazon App store. And many apps are not on this store (don't understand why as it's still Android, but hey.....)I did a search and found a Reolink App. But it does not look the same, esp the playback area in the screenshot.-So my question is. Is this App official from Reolink?I don't want to install some 3rd party copy of the app which may be risky.I've taken a photo:Does this look Genuine?
^ Thanks for the great post in response to my suggestion -I think we seem to be on the same page fundamentally in feeling it would be excellent to be able to scan a lot of footage quickly and easily to find "something" and then, if something is found then you can go to main footage to see in detail they event.-I'm thinking perhaps part of my explanation did not come across as I meant it to, so let me clarify one point.I'm not suggesting having such footage "Auto-Play" at high speed, as you say. A person/animal/vehicle may only be on 1 or two frames.I am suggesting it's implemented in a similar playback method as the Google/Nest home app. It's a manual function, either with a finger on a phone or mouse on a computer, which gives you very find control, you move your finger/mouse and the footage moves at the speed you are moving. If you see something FLASH on one frame, you stop moving, and can go backwards and forwards across this point of movement.-If you could see this happening it would be easier to understand than trying to visualise my explanation.-Note. I'm not wanting a 2 min video playing at 20x speed constantly, as you say you'd miss things. Using manual control to smooth move gives a vastly easier/better experience.but it has to be able to keep up with your finger/mouse speed, hence a small file size. Perhaps this file would be loaded into RAM before viewing to allow the needed speed/control?
