@reolink-lorenz Thanks Lorenz, I had a vague notion that I might take-advantage of the NVR's extra PoE ports, since I don't have any other PoE switches at this time. I guess not.
@ken_314845219107008 there are plenty of 3rd party IR illuminators already on the market at good prices. Look for 850nm wavelength.Keep in mind too re: wiring to existing cam feeds that the separate illuminator needs to be a consderable distance from the cam, lest the bugs it attracts are still a problem for the cam's detection.
I installed 8.10.4 to my Windows 7 Pro and all manner of problems starting with multicam view and Playback date popups not working. Finally found 8.8.5 here:https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012466173-All-Reolink-Client-Versions/and am going to uninstall and reinstall 8.8.5 which AFAICT was working perfectly.Reolink needs to make older versions available more easily, not to mention to do a better job of testing new releases.
>Notice: Menu is not visibleYou mean the pop-up you should see at the bottom, showing "reolink" then icons for Scrollview, Display Mode, Playback, BackUp, Settings, and Lock Screen" does not appear even if you right-click on yr mouse? It appears in Pic 1 that you have Settings selected--can you click there and bring-up Settings, or...still freezes? What happens when it freezes; does the NVR reboot itself after some seconds?I've had this happen to my RLN8-410 with same fw as yours and I THINK the problem might have been that not all of my cams was updated to latest firmware. I've not had it happen in some weeks now.
@joseph_1979 Thanks Joseph I surfed & surfed and couldn't find this.Says "Reolink NVRs with hardware (Hw_H3MB18, Hw_N3MB01, Hw_N2MB02) do not support 16MP, you will be prompted to switch to 6MP resolution." which implies the cams will FUNCTION with my N2MB02, but only if they are set to the reduced resolution am I right? And thereby still record but at 6MP not 16MP?If yes, maybe I would buy a 16MP camera and use it in 6MP mode until I upgrade my NVR.
I can find nothing about any new NVR requirements to support these 16MP cameras. Can I use my RLN8-410 with hardware version N2MB02 with these new cams? Any restrictions at all in re: older NVR hardware?
@rjliii_56525500874 FWIW I have had my Reolink NVR system for a couple of years and find the Motion Detection settings to be almost completely impenetrable. I've surfed and surfed the reolink site and nowhere can I find a clear explanation of the relationship between the MD Sensitivity slider and the separate Smart Detection sliders. Have asked here before about these to no responses. I think we're left to try every setting possible (millions of different settings maybe? Someone else can do the math) and never find the sweet spot of happiness.
@don-gato_805086213865620 FWIW if we are right about the UID switch, then everything is still working as when you left, so you are making recordings 24/7 and just can't see them yet! And if you set any alarms, and put-in yr email and/or smartphone, you should be getting those too I believe.
@joseph_1979 I have lost track but maybe you know Joseph: Does the NVR not come "factory fresh" with the UID checked to ON. If not it certainly should huh!
@don-gato_805086213865620 Does your app show the camera thumbnails with their last good images, but with "Device disconnected" appearing on each? If yes, then that UID switch is likely turned-off i.e. that's what my app shows if my NVR's UID is turned off. Next time you go there be sure once you've turned UID to On that you can turn-off Wi-Fi on your phone and still access the NVR and cams using cellular data, as if you were anywhere in the world. We had two houses1,500 miles apart and one of them was Up North such that we had to be concerned not only about security but also possible failures leading to freeze-ups. I put an electronic keypad in and the first year we had it our HVAC failed, which I knew because my remotely-accessible thermostat showed the inside temp dropping. Was able to give the local repair company a passcode to get in (and the code also to our security system) and they fixed that problem. At the very least hide a key somewhere. Stuff happens.Oh, a final thought. If you spent $1,000 on installation you ought to be able to send those guy(s) a key and have them fix this for you.
@joseph_1979 Ah I see that. Yes I too have that de-selected for all my cams. What about my MD Sensitivity slider question. This is all so confusing. Also, why am I considered a "new user" after a couple years such that I can't post here without some sort of time delay between?
@don-gato_805086213865620 Before you left the installation, did you test your setup by disconnecting from local Wi-Fi and using your phone's cellular service to verify the app worked, and would work from "the outside"? Did you set-up a hotspot on your phone and use your laptop/Reolink Client to verify that it also worked as if you were "back to New York"? If not, that was a mistake. If Joseph is right that your UID is not enabled, you should be able to walk someone locally (at the NVR) into fixing it.
If that is already ON and it still doesn't work, that may mean your router there is blocking it somehow.
