      Hello,

I installed a RLC-823A and have been trying to fine tune the auto tracking, but it does not track down, only from side to side. Is this possible? I want it to track anyone that walks up to my garage door. Camera is mounted about 10 feet off the ground, directly over my garage door. Someone walking up to it could be off camera because the camera doesn't tilt down.

@michael-ponce001_423681201700992 I had the same issue receiving my order from Amazon. I sent a support ticket in and they sent me a beta firmware which does auto track pan and tilt.

I have an E1 OD and just got a 823A. The E1 is not capable of looking straight down below itself, the 823A can. The 823A is mounted on my garage corner. It auto tracks left/right, right/left but It cannot track below itself, it stops following someone when they start to walk under it. It seems Reolink is fixing this with a firmware update. The 823A is an amazing camera, very fast and precise guard point, set point movement. I really like it so far. The E1 OD is a good cam for the price too, lots of features for the money, though it could use a firmware update to make returning to set points more accurate.

Any chance I could have a copy of that firmware via dropbox link or something or is it restricted somehow?
I created a ticket but no response yet.

Hello, I have two RLC-823A, Horizontal auto tracking works fine but vertical tracking doesn't work well once the person gets below the camera. This one stops following instead of turning to continue following the person. The firmware v3.1.0.804 of January 20, 2022 are installed on my two cameras.

Hi, I had a same issue with my 823a cams, did not auto track up and down but after downloading latest firmware and manually upgrading [USB local] it’s working now. I noticed my NVR isn’t on latest firmware version as well. Not sure should I update manual my NVR system I’m on 130 but there is newer 148 version out there.
                            Thanks!
Make sure you update your cams firmware not NVRS, file looks like:

@frost Of course, you shall upgrade your NVR with the latest firmware.

Here are some of the updates of the new firmware:
                                1. Optimized UI display and interaction.
                                2. Solved the problem that the camera prompts “connecting” instead of “connection succeeded” when it’s added to the NVR.
                                3. Solved the problem of failing to set flip for some channels via a web browser.
                                4. Optimized the reporting of MD and AI status.
                                5. Optimized backup download status query via a web browser.

                                  RLC-823A firmware IPC_523128M8MP.804_22011511.RLC-823A.IMX415.8MP.PTZ.REOLINK.pak
Will not auto-track vertical. Same problem as described by others in this thread. Tracks great side to side. However, when I walk under the camera it stops tracking.

What firmware do I need? What setting do I need to enable? What can I do specifically to fix this?
                                  NVR is RLN16-410, H3MB18, 12TB HDD, firmware v3.0.0.123_21031206
                                  POE connection

I love the camera and will purchase more to replace the 4 other RLC-423s I own. However, I need to solve this problem first.
Will move the RLC-423s to other properties I own.
                                  Thank you

Thank you. You want me to revise the firmware for the RLC-823A and my NVR. However, the firmware I am at right now is the latest you describe. I still am having the issue.

                                      RLC-823A
                                      The Firmware I am at = v3.1.0.804 released Jan. 20, 2022

I do not know where I got this firmware because in the download center the firmware for the RLN16-410 does NOT have this version available. In fact the ONLY version available that matches this is for the RLN8-410. This is confusing.

What do I do now? Thank you for helping

Does it never move vertically at all? Or just a limited amount (which isnt good enough).

My RLC823A shipped with 3.0.0 which only auto-tracked horizontally but not vertically.
After updating to 3.1.0 it now auto-tracks vertically (a little bit) as a target slowly moves closer toward the camera, HOWEVER, once the target is very close it stops tilting vertically to track them at all. I can walk underneath the camera and it does not follow me.
Walking directly up to the camera and then underneath it, results in the camera STOPPING its tracking after tilting down about 45 degrees, even though the camera is capable of tilting down a full 90 degrees.

It needs some coding improvement to tilt further down, faster, as a targets body leaves the field of view, downwards.

It isn't tracking close targets very well. If you're far away and your full body is in the field of view it tracks OK, but when you get close it stops tracking properly.

Good points to check. I believe what you describe is what I am experiencing. I will verify if the camera tries to move vertical at all. I did not think so, but I was not looking for the slightest movement...I was looking for complete movement to track near the camera.

                                          My application:
I have this camera on the corner of my home about 12 ft. high. The natural walking path for a human is to cut the corner pretty close to the house. At this time the camera loses the human walking about 12 ft. from the camera as it does not track vertical correctly (or as a normal consumer would expect). If the human swings wide and keeps 12 ft. from the corner of the home (a very unnatural path for an intruder) the camera tracks as required.
I agree Reolink needs to improve their tracking algorithm tuning. At this time the auto-tracking fails normal use for me. At this time, I would consider this camera for commercial use as a parking lot (open field) camera where the targets are out in the open and not near walls or buildings where the camera would naturally be mounted.
                                          Thank you for the help...

The camera also zooms in (optical) towards the bottom of the original optical image.
For example, if I start off with the sky and earth (ground) equally top and bottom of image, when I zoom in (to see something out on my property that is center screen) the sky disappears as the camera can now only see the edge of the earth (ground). And the item I wanted to zoom into is now at the very top edge of the image (if in the image at all). Like the camera has a hard time staying fully vertically up when zooming in on something.
I do not have this issue with the RLC-423s. I can zoom in with the RLC-423 and it keeps the image centered. I am not referring to digital zoom here, this is optical zoom.

Thanks, I don't think it is faulty. It tilts down a full 90 degrees but you literally have to walk towards and then under it in slow motion. Literally in slow motion, maybe about 15-20x slower than normal walking speed for it to tilt down as you walk underneath it.

The logic code just needs the developers to improve it when tilting more and tilting faster to track targets that are close to the camera, as they walk underneath it. If they test this in real life they will see the problem I guarantee. Walk up to camera and right underneath camera, it will be too slow to tilt and follow the target, so the camera remains pointing forwards and only tilts down a little bit before it loses the target and stops tilting down any more.

But if you move very very very very very VERY slowly, then yes, it will tilt all the way down 90 degrees and follow the target, but no one walks that slow in real life so it needs a code improvement.

I will soon send an email and lodge a support request with video clips as proof of what I am talking about thanks,

I am using an 823a and have the same issue. If the object is more than 10 feet away, it tracks ok most times. Anything closer than 10 feet, it will never track a person moving at actual walking speed. It might trigger once but then the person is gone and the camera loses them. The camera needs to pan further in anticipation of the distance.

Vertical auto-track also doesn't always work when it should. I can't really figure it out. I am on the latest firmware that added vertical tracking, but sometimes it doesn't move up when it could have, and sometimes it seems I need to reboot the camera to get vertical tracking working at all.

And lastly, too often the auto-tracking seems to "lag" or get hung up on something. I've tested this quite a bit and at the end of the day, it's just not reliable enough. I'm not expecting the world from it, but you can't even really track a footpath leading to a door reliably with very minimal video noise. You will notice it stops tracking quite often and just loses the person when it really shouldn't. I have all the sensitivity settings on the most sensitive... maybe try making it a bit more sensitive.

Hi there, I'm encountering exactly the same issue with a recently purchased Reolink E1 Outdoor camera.
                                                          build 21120806
                                                          Config Version v3.0.0.0
                                                          Firmware version v3.0.0.748_21120806
When walking to the bottom right area of the camera (exiting the captured area through the bottom right corner), auto-tracking stops, except if you walk very very very slowly.
I was wondering if modifying the stream parameters could improve the auto-tracking in this context.
I tried increasing the number of frame and the resolution with no success.
Any suggestion to solve this issue?
                                                          Thanks in advance.

                                                              So again 823A v3.1.0.956_22041511

I too have issues when someone is close/under the camera, at the point tracking is intermittent and laggy.

I suspect the system expects people to be rectangles taller than they are wide, once under the camera then the moving part of the image may not fit the cameras idea of what a person looks like.

My advice as soon as you have movement the the lower third of the picture and not above ( exclusions aside) pan down, even if you don't 'recognise' the object.

Other than that great camera, look forward to futher firmware upgrades, improving this in future.

I’ve recently purchased a RLC-823A and that’s doesn’t follow anything at all even though it’s all switched on ? This a software issue ?
