Updated on August 8th, 2022:The firmware is updated and solved the night mode issue. You can update the new firmware here, https://community.reolink.com/topic/3903/rlc-823a-rlc-523wa-beta-firmware-night-mode-issue-solved-and-auto-tracking-optimization.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hi RLC-823A & 523WA users,Thank you for all your feedback on the previous Beta Test. We have optimized the tracking feature of the RLC-823A & RLC-523WA. Now we also use a new tracking strategy.-------------------------------------------------------------------------Link to the firmware: Updated: Thank @Martin Kistell and @robert leyzerovich for finding the issue of the night mode. Our tech is checking the issue and I will update the firmware in the link when it is solved.----------------------------------------------------------------------------We recommend checking the “reset configuration” when upgrading the firmware.New Tracking Strategy:We mainly changed the auto-tracking strategy in this firmware from center-originated to edge-originated tracking. When the target doesn't reach the edges of the screen, the camera will still track the target without PT(the target is not in the center). When the target reaches the edge of the screen, the camera will PT and continue tracking the moving target.Tracking Strategy Details:1. Pan&Tilt will be triggered only when the target is close to the screen's upper, lower, left, and right edges.2. Monitor Point feature:--If enabled, the camera will return to the monitor point 10 seconds after the target is lost during tracking. --If not enabled, 10 seconds after the target is lost during tracking camera will return to the last saved position.3. When the target is in the still screen and no tracking is triggered. After 20 seconds, it will return to the monitor point if the monitor point function is on; if not, it will return to the last saved position.4. If the target is moving in the frame, but no Pan&Tilt is triggered, the camera stays in its current position. (It's still tracking, but the target doesn't need to be centered)5. If the settings of the PTZ and Focus are manually changed, the auto-tracking will be recovered after 15s.6. If the configuration of the Flip, Mirroring, and Auto-Tracking is changed while the camera is auto-tracking, the camera will return to the monitor point if the monitor point is on. The camera will return to the last saved position if the monitor point is not enabled.
As the others stated, the night mode and IR are messed up. I went back to the latest released and won’t use the Beta until night mode is fixed.I liked the improved tracking! It’s much, much better. One small suggestion is to start the pan for objects that are about to leave the field of view a little bit earlier. Its too close to the edge for my preference. The pan is fine though for objects entering the field of view. The zoom and focus scroll bars on the PTZ window do not get updated after using a preset or jumping back to the monitor point. They don’t get updated until you close and reopen the PTZ widow.Deleting a time lapsed video from the SD card worked, it does not work in the latest firmware.I had one video where the tracking got confused by people walking dogs. It started out tracking the people and then jumped to the dogs which was out of view and it lost both the people and dogs until it jump back to starting point.
I found a fix, temporary it seems but you can go black and white under brightness and shadows, set auto to off and then on and then the camera will pick up more light. IR still doesn’t work but it helps if you can’t see anything!
I appreciate you offering the advice. The firmware will shortly be updated by our tech. happy wheels
