@reolink-fiona Will do. It's ok so far. False alerts have gone! No rats have visited the bird table yet so I cannot vouch for its effectiveness yet. As soon as a rat shows up, I'll let you know what happens.A cat was on it last night and the alert was sounded so we know it recognises cats.
@reolink-fiona OH MY GOSH! I've just noticed the "PET" option within the Smart Detection settings. This is marvellous. If it works as well as I hope, it should allow me to set the camera to watch for rats and ignore everything else. Please forward my sincere thanks to the tech team. I will let you know how it works out.
@reolink-fiona Or develop a Rat Detected option? Only joking.
@reolink-fiona Understood.That is disappointing.I use my RLC-1210A to keep watch on my bird table so vehicle and person detection is a feature that I do not use.It alerts me when motion is detected at night, which usually is caused by a rat. I can then deal with the rat.False alerts caused by rain and insects will continue to be an annoyance even with this new feature.
Thank you to the team. I am very happy that the idea has been adopted.I will test it when it becomes available for my outdoor camera, RLC-1210A.It's not really applicable to my RLC-520A indoor camera - unless the roof leaks
If it does not apply to ordinary Motion Detection, it won't solve the problem of rain and flying insects.
The neck seal grommet as supplied cannot accommodate outdoor CAT6 cables which are 8mm in diameter.Please consider including a larger seal grommet in the Waterproof Lid kit for use with thicker ethernet cables.
@reolink-fiona Push alerts are working ok now. (UK)Thanks.Maybe a global email to clients next time the tech team need to suspend the push service would be good practice.
PUSH NOTIFICATIONS HAVE STOPPED.I'm sure you already know about this and your tech people are trying to sort it out.If it is a technical failure, that's something we can all relate to.If it is planned maintenance, can I ask you for a favour please? Let your customers know first so our security is not unnecessarily compromised.Thank you.
@reolink-fiona Thank you. It's a good fix.

The Amazon Fire tablets do have an Android based operating system but tailored to Amazon's requirements.They do not have Google Play Store or Google Play Services on board so you are forced to obtain apps from Amazon's dedicated app store.That is very easily fixed.Just go to the 'How-To Geek' website and they have a simple step-by-step guide in plain English.Put "How to Install the Google Play Store on an Amazon Fire" in the search box.It takes about ten minutes to bish bash bosh.
... and you'll need one mobile device per camera. I don't think the Pushover app can handle separate accounts on the same device.
Yes, indeed. You can create your own mp3 files and get properly creative!You'll need to buy a licence for each @pomail address though, but five dollars, it won't break the bank.*TIP: Don't have the custom mp3 that you upload to their website stored on a receiving device. It can cause Pushover to get confused.
Might try that.In the meantime, I've bought a PUSHOVER licence for $5. (Just look for 'Pushover' in the app store). You're best going to their website first on a PC to set it up. Their push notifications contain text and a thumbnail image if you want. It's up to the user to what the notification includes. I can highly recommend it and it's worth every penny.There's a delay of about ten seconds before it converts an email notification into a push notification but it still arrives earlier than an email alert, which sometimes never arrive at all!
That would be an ideal solution and I would love to be able to assign custom sounds to my four cameras.I doubt if it's possible unless Reolink find a coding whizkid who can do magic.There's not many of them about and they cost big buck$.
This is so do-able if you want to.I can't be the only user who uses a conveniently placed tablet to constantly stream video feed from a camera can I?And while I might not be staring at it 24/7, I still want to be alerted when there is an event. Now, there's the problem. Because the tablet has the app running in the foreground, no push notification sound occurs.I need to have another device with the app running in the background.I know it's possible for apps to push their notifications when they are running in the foreground because there are other apps that do it. There are countless articles for app developers that explain how it can be achieved.It's an easy option for you to include in the app.Shouldn't users be given the option? All it takes is a simple tick box and a few lines of code.You know you want to. Go on. Do it.
I have an old Motorola Moto G3 cell phone running Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) which I keep exclusively to alert me if a person is detected from one of my cameras. It's the most critically important of my cameras and I need to be able act quickly if an event occurs.I need it to play a very loud intruder alert sound that I have stored in the phone's Notifications folder.There is no option in the Android app to choose a custom sound. The app plays Reolink's default sound.Is there a way to play a custom sound instead of your app's default sound?
Just a quick question.On my RLC-1210A, there is a feature which allows me to define the minimum size of an object that will trigger an event.Does that feature apply to general Motion Detection or does it exclusively apply to Smart Detection for persons and vehicles?
Yes, you're right. However, it is a valuable tool for eliminating false events if your Detection Zones are only as large as they really need to be.Until recently, I used a different camera that had this option of ignoring events that lasted less than a second.My detection zone is only about 10% of the screen.False alerts became very rare when I set the Length of Motion to just 1 second.I accept it isn't a 100% guaranteed solution.Installing powerful floodlights to negate the need for infrared night view is effective. Rain and insects are hardly noticeable in artificial daylight. I've done that on my driveway.
