Also interested in predicted time line. My RLC-510WA (ends with "A") camera does not support this feature. Can someone please remind me how users learn of new firmware for cameras?I see that the previous Support Center link to Firmware Updates no longer appears. (It was very handly to pull up that page and see, "Still no new firmware since April 7".) Should customers now bookmark the firmware page for each of their cameras and open those pages from time-to-time?
About the download center:You can go to the download center of our website for downloading the latest firmware. The latest firmware of RLC-510WA is v3.0.0.494. You can go to the center at this link, https://reolink.com/download-center/. About how to find the correct firmware:You can find your model and hardware version first, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004894193-How-to-Find-out-System-Information-via-Reolink-App. Then according to your model and hardware version, you can download the firmware.
Hello Cynthia.I have taken you at your word and bought an RLC-1210A in anticipation of the feature being launched soon.It is an excellent camera but, as I am writing, I have been forced to disable notifications because it is raining.I have set the sensitivity as low as 5 but it still sees passing raindrops as a motion event.I have also defined a minimum size for target objects but rain still triggers an event. It absolutely needs your new feature (Minimum Length of Motion) as soon as possible.I hope it will be very soon.1210A.png
I have advocated for a "minimum length of motion" setting for years precisely because of objects that do not appear on the camera long enough to make any sense looking at.Unfortunately, this type of setting will probably not be effective for avoiding rain. There is not "one drop" of rain that comes and goes away. There are hundreds of drops appearing constantly for (hours?) and they may appear over a large part of the area viewed by the camera. That would seem to call for a different type of artificial intelligence, i.e. if cameras can now detect "cars", "animals", and even "packages" (not Reolink), they should be able to detect "rain."
Yes, you're right. However, it is a valuable tool for eliminating false events if your Detection Zones are only as large as they really need to be.Until recently, I used a different camera that had this option of ignoring events that lasted less than a second. My detection zone is only about 10% of the screen.False alerts became very rare when I set the Length of Motion to just 1 second.I accept it isn't a 100% guaranteed solution.Installing powerful floodlights to negate the need for infrared night view is effective. Rain and insects are hardly noticeable in artificial daylight. I've done that on my driveway.
Bonjour de la France,Fausses alertes.
Thank you to the team. I am very happy that the idea has been adopted.I will test it when it becomes available for my outdoor camera, RLC-1210A.It's not really applicable to my RLC-520A indoor camera - unless the roof leaks
If it does not apply to ordinary Motion Detection, it won't solve the problem of rain and flying insects.
I have 4 x POE Duo 2 and I’ve the same issue. I underwent that this is a difficult issue to fix. I’m a programmer and did some motion detection algorithm on the past and this one is tricky but you need to detect not only one frame changing but several ones and only trigger motion when there is enough of them changed. I could help btw!
Old topic, but old problem... Have a handfull of 823a'a and am suffering from this issue? Was the short lived motion option implemented? Cannot find anywhere in the settings. As others said here. Shouldn't really be difficult at all to implement so if it's not implemented it almost seems on purpose. Not sure why though?
Why can’t they create the option to disable motion detection completely and live just person and vehicle detection?
I’m an owner of RLN8-410 with B800 v1 cameras. And yes we need atleast something to filter out the insects that appears as big bright objects.the actual methodology to simply in a non intelligent way to compare subsequent frame can be easily improved.big bright objects are really easy to implement also because they are not static and move typically quickly so adding a feature that filter out bright objects where you can set a kind of dimension and persistance or movement it is easy, but from what I see this has been requested several times and despite it is a relative easy implementation i see Reolink didn’t anything.Product has been purchased 3 years ago and I have not seen any improvements. Also I see my neighbour buying the latest version of my product and his cameras can detect person vehicles and rest and I was expecting a firmware update for my cameras as well but never seen it, that’s very frustrating because the products are expensive and supposed to not be changed for years, and I’m really disappointed with this company considering that these are software things. Also after lot of years they didn’t implemented the possibility to use my cameras with Synology surveillance system, so nothing really nothing improved. I was really expecting more, I never used motion detection because as it is it’s useless, so frustrated!!
I bought 3 years ago a RLN8-410 kit with 6 4k B800 (v1 I think) and the insects problem is really bad. The actual non intelligent way to detect movement is ridiculous. To detect bright objects it is so easy and can be implemented easily setting dimension and persistance also because tipically they are not static and move fast. But I see lot of requests for years and nothing changed, very bad.I’m so frustrated because I see no improvements in 3 years, the product is always with the original problems. My neighbor bought the same but probably more recent version and now they can detect vehicles, people and rest; I was happy to atleast to see it and expecting to find a firmware update for my version but nothing exists! When you purchase these expensive products you expect to use them for years and not to change them often also because the improvements are mainly software based and you expect features coming over the time. Also after lot of years they didn’t implemented the possibility to use my cameras with Synology surveillance system, so nothing really nothing improved. We are not going to buy new version just for the features so you Reolink are just building frustration in people.Ridiculous that I never used the motion detection despite buying premium cameras because the feature as it is is useless and create only false alarms. So frustrated! Several neighbours asked me to install a camera system in their new apartments but I will move on other brands so far.
In the summer with insects flying around, I have almost every night a false alarm. This is really annoying and in contrast to the advertised human detection, because it's detects bugs and think its a human, with even lowered sensitivities.
I'm sitting in a hotel away from home and all Im getting is detection, detection, dection from my doorbell as insects fly past the camera! I thought the new reolink doorbell camera was supposed to be the best thing out there? Where is the adjustability and control? Where is the live interface to immediately chat with someone at the door? So fed up I waited so long for this technology...
This is disappointing. JUST purchaed a POE device and I am plaugued with constant alerts every night from insects. Nothing helps....sensitivity or object size.As someone else asked, why cant you just disable motion alerts but leave smart alerts enabled? Seems like a pretty simple fix.Not happy to see this discussion started years ago with no resolution still.
