@reolink-fiona Rich push notifications would be great. Motion tagging so we can identify what the camera thinks is motion. And the ability to link cameras together. As an example I have 3 cameras in my yard and they're set to turn on the spotlight when motion is detected, but it would be nice if they all came on when one detected motion. And the ability to set the time they stay on when activated instead of 30 seconds maybe 1-5 minutes and longer depending.

@reolink-fiona
What's next after Duo 2 camera? How about Trio? 2 wide lenses plus one telephoto lens similar to Trackmix camera. The purpose of the telephoto lens is not to track like Trackmix. Rather, to see the far objects since Duo 2 camera is typically used for big coverage. Duo 2 digital zoom can't take you very far without suffering the image quality. -
@reolink-fiona
I might also add that I'm still waiting for the AC wire version of Duo floodlight camera. I am sure Reolink can convert the DC version of Duo floodlight camera to AC without problem. Pretty much all floodlight cameras on the market from Eufy, Ring, Amcrest etc. are AC power. -
@reolink-fiona
Software improvements..
1) Reolink needs to support at least 2 motion detection zones. This will make the camera flexible and powerful. For example, one detection zone for day time and another detection zone for night time operation.
2) Mac client software is still based on Intel processor. Apple no longer makes Intel Mac anymore. So Reolink should be built for the universal version which will allow the Mac client run more smoothly and efficient on Apple Silicon machine like M1 and M2 Mac. Video on Reolink iOS app runs very smooth due to the fact the Reolink app is compiled with the native code designed to run on Apple processor. -
@reolink-fiona
Things I would love to see, although I think Reolink is going in the right direction
1) Standalone Infrared light that could be used alongside cameras.
2) A large image sensor version of the 811A cameras, that has improved image quality and clarity. Something with very high image detail
3) software improvements for app/client effeciency and software/firmware update via app/client -
@reolink-fiona I would like some official integration for Home Assistant, as that's the main way I use the motion/person alerts from Reolink devices. I currently use a third-party integration, but something official would be nice.
-
@reolink-fiona In general customers want
- MQTT implementation
- Facial Recognition
- Geofencing
- Higher fps and higher optic zooming
- Rich push notifications across all recent cams with embedded action like calling emergency
- Clicking on received push notification shall direct you straight to the recorded video
- More detection zones each of which has its own alerts, schedule, siren, notifications, etc
- Distinct sound at application level depending on source (cam)
- More AI detections like any Pet, Package, smoke, sound, etc
- More IoT devices (Smoke detectors, PIR detectors, Sound detectors, water leakage detectors, temperature and humid detectors etc)
- More complex IFTTT...... if (face==matched or License plate == ABC) then switch off camera 2 and release relay to open gate
- More security on cameras and applications (logging source IPs, Audit log logging all activities done by a user, encrypting mp4 files on SD, sending an email once a user logs on to camera, Windows/MAC client to be password protected at start up, etc)
- More efficient and robust communication protocols between cameras and applications (esp wake up method on battery operated cams, playback improvement)
- More robust applications and firmware
- More flexible timers (pre and post recording, files retention, guard and patrol timers, etc)
- Statistics on events, based on recognition...counting and congestion
- Deleting specific files stored on SD through a function on application
- SFTP access to the user cloud account
- Improve ways of how to inform customers about upgrades and maintenance windows which might impact cameras operations.
- .........you want more :).
-
@curls Also need the option to swipe away notifications in app while viewing a cameras live stream. The ability to snooze notifications on a per camera base.

@reolink-fiona Outdoor temperatures displayed on camera and a doppler sensor to detect speeds of passing cars
-
A device that detects footsteps using a geophone would be an epic device.
-
1) MQTT support!
2) Webhooks API
3) ONVIF Profile-T two-way audio support
Then people can integrate your cameras into their home automation and if features are missing people can add them themselves. For example, the above comment about rich notifications can already be done but not so effectively.Reply QuoteShare19- Share this Post

@skynet01-14_512285893755085 I definitely second this! I know that webhooks are on their way as a beta option (https://community.reolink.com/post/16822), but MQTT would be great too (and even better, both options -- user flexibility is good!)
-
- constant infrared and, in the case of detection, a spotlight as well
- Time control of the spotlight in automatic mode (e.g. the light should go on at night, not in the evening)
- setting the twilight brightness for the spotlight!
-
My top answer is definitely webhooks/mqtt (as has already been mentioned).
Second, though: playback in the Android app could use a re-think (and it would be nice for the same to apply to the NVR web interface, for that matter.)
Right now, when I receive an alert that a person is at the door from my camera, my workflow is:- Click notification, open app
- Press the playback icon
- Press the grayed-out playback filter button in the bottom left
- Press the general-motion, vehicle, and pets buttons one by one so they go from blue to gray, showing me only the relevant events
- Scroll through to the far right to find the most recent event
- Tap that to see if it's my package being delivered
It would be nice for it, instead, to just go right to playing the relevant clip.
Second -- I have two cameras covering the same area from a different perspective. Right now, I just have one camera sending notifications. Ideally, though, they'd both be looking -- but the app would know to not send a second alert if they both trigger within a short window.
And third, it would be nice to have an overall "events" view, which I could customize to remember which AI events to show by default. For my use, it's generally people -- and maybe pets occasionally. But I'd really like a timeline view of all "people" events from all cameras.
As it is, once the webhooks are available, I will use Home Assistant to get the behaviour I want. But I think it would still be nice for the app to just work this way.
Thank you for considering! -
This one is kind a long-term thing, but: I would love to see future cameras support the AV1 codec over H.265. The patent licensing status of H.265 makes it difficult for open source projects. As a bonus, it also gets better bitrates for comparable quality. (I know that the hardware isn't up to the task yet, though. But in a few years....)

Add-on sensors, for Reolink camera / doorbell /Floodlights.
I currently have and still use a very very old system of remote PIR sensors and standalone doorbell box/strobe unit (which are no longer produced), I keep in my main window visible to any one coming close to my house. Which I use to back up my Reolink system. The sensors are all hidden outside and in my outbuildings that detect people entering my property via gates/drives, looking in out buildings or entering my vehicles where the CCTV cannot detect them due to being behind walls, bushes, inside sheds or vehicles etc.
Which will immediately alert me and the person entering my property or buildings with an alarm and blue strobe light from the main unit, that they have been detected. Which is very effective to prevent people snooping around, putting of potential thief's before they enter the property or just notifying me I have a visitor before they get to my door. Both CCTV and Video doorbells need a clear view, but with remote sensors they can be places any where.
As these are old and are not fully weather proof I have them in sealed clear plastic bags and have done for over 8 year (but they still work). The small square batteries last for usually 1.5 - 2 years with a range on these is around 100m and they work flawlessly through thick stone built houses in this country.
I have been wanting to replace the system with new drive /path way alarms building alarms, to compliment my CCTV set up but it seems as though only either very expensive or DIY systems systems are available. So having some thing that links up with the Reolink system would be great.
If you could develop a number of small stand alone sensors, that can be places outside, that link up to your other products would be prefect. Especially if they can be placed near gates, cover drive entrances and in sheds etc. Where detection via CCTV is not always possible. The ability to install sensors are hidden from view or hard to spot, that notifies people they have been detected especially if they are out of sight of the CCTV cameras is a very effective way of putting of potential intruders.
Add-on sensors also have the ability to add extra functionality to cameras such as PTZ cameras alerting them to movement when they are facing a different direction,
and providing an invisible barrier to your property. -
Personally I like the Reolink equipment but I have a RLC-423 that is just out of warrantee that I would like to get repaired. It just stopped. The other 4 cameras were not affected. Does Reolink have anyone that repairs?
-
It would be nice to be able to choose the type of detection based on time, i.e during the day person detection and during the night any motion. This could be by a simple colour which could quadrant if you have more than one colour selected for a square.
Similar to above it would also be handy to be able to choose different areas for different alerts, red any motion, blue people, green cars, etc. If you want them to overlap you could.Reply QuoteShare0- Share this Post

@neil_chaplin_is_450076909830276 If one needs person and vehicle at the same time ....... Well this can be achieved by having a schedule for each detection type. And to be more flexible this has to be distinct for each detection zone.
-
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318
Can you, I didn't think / haven't found a way of having different schedules for each detection type. You can only set the schedule and then tick which detection type you want.
-
It would be nice to have pet detection in your other cameras. Posts on here and when I query it I am told by Reolink that only your 8mp cameras have / will have the pet detection.
I have an E1 Outdoor (5mp), I was sent a firmware that has pet detection and it works really well. I asked for the latest firmware to see what was new and the pet detection has been removed. When I asked why I get the same response, we don't do pet detection for cameras other than the 8mp, which is clearly wrong as I was sent it for my E1 Outdoor. So not sure why they insist they won't or that they haven't. -
I know I'm not the only one.. but I want an update to my H3MB16

I feel your pain, I ended up replacing my old NVR just out of warranty with the new model. just so i could use all the features of the new cameras like spotlight/tracking/two way audio. They look identical from the outside its only when you open the thing up that you find the system boards have been changed.
Although when I had an issue with my new one a few weeks ago, I contacted Reolink via amazon (They get issues sorted in no time if you purchase via amazon) and accidentally selected my old box they did offer to replace my old one which was out of warranty for a new one for being a good customer. How ever I informed them I selected the wrong purchase and they sent me a new replacement the very next day for the new one.

Setting different schedules for different scenes is a big missing feature imo. I want recording, alarms, etc. on only at night when I’m home but I want them on all the time when I’m out.
